HERE IS MY VERY RARE E 23 B 10 3. 5 MANUAL. I HAVE HEARD THAT ONLY 20 OF THESE CARS IN RIGHT HAND DRIVE WERE EVER PURCHASED. MOST OF THE E 23 B 10 s HAD AUTO BOXES AND COST APPROX £33. 00. THIS CAR COULD HAVE COST A LITTLE MORE BECAUSE OF THE GEARBOX CHANGES. IN 1985 YOU COULD HAVE BOUGHT 2 x E 30 C 2. 5 ALPINAs FOR THE SAME MONEY AS THIS CAR. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PRICE GUIDE FOR THIS PERIOD.
ANYWAY.
THIS CAR WAS REGISTERED IN AUGUST 1985 WITH REGISTRATION ( C 152 SRK ). IN 1989 IT CHANGED OWNERSHIP AND WAS SOON RE REGISTERED AS ( KXI 6000).
IN 1995 IT HAD THE PRIVATE PLATE REMOVED AND WAS THEN RE REGISTERED AS ( C 657 PHG ). IT REMAINED THIS WAY UNTIL I CHANGED THE REG NUMBER TO ( B 10 RLP ) IN MAY 2006. I HAVE 17 PREVIOUS ROAD TAX DISCS TO PROVE THESE CHANGES.
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FROM AUGUST 2005 AND BOUGHT IT WITH A FULL M. O. T.
I PURCHASED IT FROM A GERMAN CAR ENTHUSIAST WHO HAD DECIDED TO CHANGE THE COLOUR OF THE CAR FROM DIAMOND BLACK TO DARK METALLIC GREEN. IT DOES SUIT THE CAR BUT THE ORIGINAL COLOUR WOULD BE BETTER.
WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IT WAS STILL LISTED AS BLACK. I INTENDED TO GET THE CAR CHANGED BACK TO BLACK SO LEFT THE LOG BOOK AS IT WAS.
BEFORE MY SON WAS BORN I HAD A COLLECTION OF GERMAN CARS MYSELF. I OWNED 2 ALPINAs. SEVERAL OTHER RARE BMWs AND 2 PORSCHEs. TIMES HAVE CHANGED.
MARRIAGE. ORTGAGE AND MY BOY.
I ONLY COLLECT MODEL BMWs THESE DAYS BUT I HAVE HUNG ON TOOTH AND NAIL TO THIS B 10.
IT WAS PARKED UP UNDER A DRY SHELTER FOR MANY MANY YEARS WAITING FOR ME TO HAVE SOME SPARE MONEY TO GET IT M. O. Td AGAIN.
I GOT IT THROUGH ITS TEST RECENTLY AT SOME CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE. ITS ONLY THE 2 ND TIME I HAVE M. O. Td IT SINCE I BOUGHT IT.
THE CAR NEEDS A NEW LIFE WITH AN ENTHUSIASTIC NEW OWNER. IF YOU WANT A MINT E 23 B 10 THEN YOU WILL NEED WELL OVER £10 K TO BUY ONE. IF YOU CAN FIND ANOTHER THEN YOU HAVE DONE VERY WELL.
I WOULD LOVE TO GET THIS CAR BACK TO ORIGINAL CONDITION BUT ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
IT SEEMS TO HAVE SOME ELECTRICAL GREMLINS. SUNROOF. INDOWS HAVE RECENTLY WORKED BUT CURRENTLY ARE NOT. THE HEATER MATRIX IS NOT WORKING EITHER BUT DID BEFORE I LAYED IT UP. THE CENTRAL LOCKING SOMETIMES WORKS AND SOMETIMES DOS'NT. THE RADIO/CASSETTE NEEDS WIRING BACK IN OR REPLACING FOR A CD PLAYER.
BODYWORK !! IF YOU CAN LIVE WITH THE GREEN THEN SOME PANELS NEED THE TOUCH OF A GOOD BODYWORK GUY. SOME SMALL SCRATCHES AND SOME RUST CREEPING IN HERE AND THERE. THE DOORS ARE VISIBLEY GOOD BUT ROT HAS STARTED AROUND THE DRAINING POINTS. THE BOOT GOT A DING WHILST LAYED UP UNDER THE SHELTER. I HAVE PURCHASED ANOTHER BOOT AND PUT IT IN PRIMER( SEE PHOTOS) I HAVE ALSO PURCHASED AN ORIGINAL BBS FRONTSPOILER AND NEW GENUINE FRONT SPOT LIGHTS. THE CAR APPEARS NEVER TO HAVE HAD AN ALPINA SPOILER. THEY ARE EVEN HARDER TO FIND THAN THE CARS THEMSELVES. THE B 10 BOOT BADGE WAS STOLEN SO A STICKER REPLACED IT. THE BOOT CARPET HAS GONE DUE TO STAINS AND OTHER IMOVABLE MARKS. THE TOOL KIT IS ALMOST COMPLETE AS IS THE FIRST AID KIT.
THE ODOMETER HAS NEVER WORKED SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND READS 151 K MILES. I HAVE DONE APPROX 100 MILES IN THE CAR WHILST OWNING IT.
THE CAR GOT THROUGH THE LAST M. O. T BUT I HAVE SPENT £2 K ON PARTS AND MAN HOURS.
I DROVE THE CAR A LITTLE DISTANCE AND IT DRIVES GREAT IN A STRAIGHT LINE. IT IS HEAVY ON THE STEERING DUE TO THE MASSIVE FRONT TYRES ON THE 17" BBS WHEELS. THE ORIGINAL 16" ALLOYS HAVE LONG SINCE BEEN SOLD.
THE BAD POINTS OF THIS CAR ARE SMALL WHEN YOU LOOK AT ITS GOOD POINTS.
ITS A SOLID AND HANDSOME CLASSIC BMW WITH A LONG LIFE STILL AHEAD OF IT. ITS PROBLEMS NEED IRONING OUT BY SOMEONE WITH TIME AND ENTHUSIASM. I HAVE NEITHER. ITS M. O. Td UNTIL AUGUST 2014.
