1963 Triumph TR4 - Old English White & Black Interior - Superb Condition for sale
Current customer rating:
1963 Triumph TR 4
This 1963 TR 4 is finished in Old English White with black leather interior. It is equipped. as originally. with the all-important overdrive and has a desirable Surrey top.
As detailed by the Heritage Certificate. it was originally delivered new to Germany (via dealers Walter Hagen & Company G. M. B. H. ) for 1 st Lieutenant James E. Fritz. Subsequently he took the car to America where it stayed until was imported to the UK in 1997 and converted to right-hand drive.
Over the last four years this TR 4 has been subject to substantial restoration to bring it up to exceptional condition.
Thanks to spending most of its life in a dry climate the chassis is perfect. original and unrepaired. The body is also very original and completely free of corrosion. In 2013 the body has been subjected to a complete strip down (all panels removed) and beautiful repaint. The result is a perfectly straight TR with a superb finish. Similarly the bright work is excellent with a new grill and rechromed rear bumper.
The interior is lovely with a new dash. Moto Lita steering wheel and beautifully patinated leather low-back seats.
Mechanically this TR 4 has been almost entirely rebuilt at cost of over £6000 in parts alone. The engine was completely rebuilt and uprated in 2011 with 89 mm forged pistons and new liners - taking the capacity to 2. 3-litres – along with a road specification camshaft. a lightened flywheel. rebuilt crankshaft assembly and cylinder head. Two new (not rebuilt) SU carbs were fitted along with all new ancillaries. an electric fan and a performance exhaust system.
At the same time a new clutch was fitted and the gearbox rebuilt with new bearings and synchromesh.
The braking system was renewed with new calipers. discs and pads. the suspension was rebuilt and four new Minilite replica alloy wheels were fitted. shod with new Yokohama tyres.
The result is a fast and responsive TR 4 that stops and handles just as well. The overdrive works perfectly enabling easy high-speed cruising.
With the car comes a fantastic history file with every bill since in came back to the UK in 2007 and all bills for all the recent mechanical refurbishment.
In short. a structurally perfect. beautiful looking TR 4 that's been thoroughly mechanically overhauled and uprated. ready to be used and enjoyed.
