Hello all and welcome to my eBay auction! Thanks for checking out this great little “one of a kind” Scout II. First of all I want to start by stating that I am not an International Harvester expert. Far from it in reality. I do know vintage automobiles though and I also know a good vehicle from a bad one too. This is a well preserved rust free fantastic and fun vintage 4X4. It gets attention wherever it goes and is very fun to drive.
The reason I call this Scout II one of a kind is the configuration of the truck cab on the short Scout II body. It was a custom job as I do not believe this was available from the factory as an option. Sometime in the life of this Scout. a prior owner changed the vehicle in such a way that the rear seating and storage area was changed into a short pick-up style bed. Then a removable International pickup style top was added to separate the cab from the bed. It really looks great. The vehicle now has a look much like the early Bronco trucks. Better if you ask me. The angled back of the cab looks better than the Bronco's top and looks very uniform and symmetrical. The work done to make this conversion is top notch. The welds in the bed are of high quality and will last as long as the truck will.
As I mentioned earlier the truck is RUST FREE. There are no signs of rust anywhere. The floors are solid and original and the frame is clean and free of any problems.
The paint is original as far as I can tell. The vinyl stripes look to be added but also seem to be in the same style as the originals would have been. The paint shines well and although not perfect. I think demonstrates the level of care this Scout has received throughout its life.
The Scout has the V8 engine and a 4-Speed manual transmission. It runs perfectly. It starts easily with 2 pumps of the accelerator when cold and warms up quickly for trouble free driving. The power is impressive and even. There is no smoking or dripping. The transmission shifts perfectly and the clutch is in excellent condition too. The 4x4 works exactly as it should.
The Scout has power steering and is easy to drive in any situation. I use just the 3 top gears with first as a granny.
The tires have lots of tread but they could be replaced as they are showing signs of aging. Probably fine for easy driving but a new set would really be a nice addition to the vehicle. I have lots of sources and would be happy to include them if you want to make a package deal. Also the windshield has a crack in the center from the top to the bottom. It does not bother me. but it is there. I can help you with that too if you wish. Because of the modifications to the vehicle the title reads “reconstructed”.
Those are really the only weak points of the Scout. I really love it. It has been my first choice to drive for the last several weeks out of 7 choices. It just wins my attention every time. I am in the business of selling them not collecting them so it is time to find this rig a new loving owner.
This Scout II has a ton of vintage appeal and will surely be one to hold on to for future appreciation. It is over 40 years old so if you are not used to a vehicle this old please call me and let me help you make an informed decision about a purchase and what ownership will be like.
I am selling the Scout with a VERY LOW RESERVE and I know it will sell the first go around as long as we all play by these rules.
