SELLER REMARKS
In the world of unusual cars. the 1971 Dodge Super Bee stands out among a field already crowded with Mopars. Since the Coronet was only available as a sedan or wagon. the Super Bee became a low-priced Charger for one year only. Low price and high performance? Get it here!
Following a 4-year ground-up restoration that shows less than 2000 miles on it. this gorgeous Super Bee is every bit the Mopar muscle car that its predecessors were. The all-new "fuselage" styling works quite well. giving it a modern look that's instantly identifiable. and when it wears Plum Crazy. you know it's got to be fast. Fortunately. the bodywork more than lives up to expectations. with laser straight panels. excellent fit and finish. and details that make this look like anything but bargain-priced performance. Check out the front and rear spoilers. the trick Ramcharger hood scoop. and the body-colored bumpers and front grille surround. all of which scream horsepower. The white vinyl top is incredibly white. brilliant against the purple paint. adding that sense of fun that was always a hallmark of Mopar muscle. There's not a lot of chrome. but details like the grille (good luck finding another one this nice). the tail panel. and the decal package are all in outstanding condition.
The affordable muscle car shows its roots with a correct bench seat interior. which is how the most serious performance cars were always equipped. It's nice to see one restored to original specs using brand new seat covers. fresh black carpets. and door panels that are quite likely excellent original pieces. The round gauges will look familiar to Mopar fans. with a tachometer cleverly mounted on the A-pillar where it's easy to see and out of the way. It still includes its original AM/FM radio with unique left-hand mounted knobs for both tuning and volume. which is one of those cool features that get lost when entertainment systems are "upgraded. " The back seat looks virtually unused and brand new. while the trunk offers a fitted mat and fifth wheel waiting for a tire.
Ultimately. the Super Bee was all about horsepower. and there aren't many more potent engines than the famous 440 Six-Pack. Clearly this car was built with a single purpose in mind: going fast with a minimum of frills. and it succeeds brilliantly. The engine was fully rebuilt and uses 452 heads so you don't have to worry about octane and lead in your gas. and the Six-Pack induction system inhales through a stock air cleaner fed by the functioning hood scoop. A few chrome bits dress up the Hemi Orange engine. and the engine bay demonstrates what you get when you spend big at the paint shop. It's backed by a TCI-built TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic feeding an 8. 75-inch rear with a Sure Grip limited slip inside. Long-tube headers and a 2. 5-inch Flowmaster exhaust sound downright evil. and rolling on custom aluminum rims and 225/70/15 white-letter radials gives it the perfect street-brawler look.
A rare car in its own right. this Super Bee proves that the horsepower wars weren't quite over in 1971. and Chrysler still had an ace in the hole. Call today!
