Up For Sale is my 1965 dodge dart Gt Convertible . I owned this car for 11 years . I restored the car back in 2000 . the original drive train was a slant 6 and 904 trans with a peanut rear end. The car came from Geogia orginally so was in pretty decent shape for rust wise. but did need a few patches put in the floors .
Well .
I did the body and paint on this car since I'm a professional auto bodyman for 35 years . I came out so nice I had to do some tweaking on the drive train so I ordered up a brand new stroker 402 magnum from chrysler and installed it in along with a pro built 727 transmission from Rush performance and a 8 3/4 rear end with 3:91 gears . that was just the start of things to come .
mind you . . I do Not like anyone to work on my car because they just can't do it as well as I can . I am very picky / and or a prefectionist . as you
can see by all the work I've done to my stroker dart. it's done the right way. no corners were cut when it comes down to having a car that runs 11. 0's on motor.
here are the things I rebuilt on the ragtop .
all front end suspension items were rebuilt or replaced . bushings. ball joints. shoes . altrac shocks. 6 cyl torsion bars
etc were done . dart goes down the road straight as an arrow.
light weight ansen aluminum sprint skinny wheels and moroso tires . the rear hoosier QTP slick are worn out
. had them on there for 4 years. circletrack tires are on the rear now. go with the car .
rear end has all all new axle seals. fresh fluid
742 center case with 3:91 gears with big U-joints and big driveshaft . rearend is not a howler or grinder .
engine is a 2002 mopar performance Sb 360 crate magnum Stroker 402 roller cam lifters 513 lift 301 duration . approx 2000 miles on her. just barely broken in. mind you this car was never a daily driver when I owned it just back and forth to a few car shows.
trans 727 with all top of the shelf components. turbo action 3500 stall converter with cheata reverse manual valvebody. hurst ratchet shifter . deep pan and a 5. 0 shifter lever.
exhaust is headman hustler 1 7/8" fender well headers 3. 5 collector and 3" thru dynoma ultraflo muffs with turn downs in front of axle.
convertible top is new and all interior was new . Couple tears are sewed up on driverseat . rest is A-1 shape. carpet is new . as dyed black .
hood front bumper. and hood scoop are fiberglass .
Msd electronic ignition system . All tweaked to performance .
moroso Electric water pump. olley fuel pump . alum cross flow radiator and taurus electric fan . never overheats .
fuel cell with electric holley pump . 1/2 fuel line all the way to 850 dp holley carb. with regulator . carb has been tweaked for performance .
timing advance unit control to set timing where you want inside car.
line loc is installed .
Brakes . has the big drum brakes and shoes on all 4 corners
and has no problems stopping . master cyl has been converted over to a dual resorvior .
dash gauges all work even the radio .
power electric convertible top works fine .
the dart has calvert caltrac rear suspension also . mono leafs with 9 way adjustable rear shocks . pinion angle is set at the correct angle and the caltrac bars are tuned for superior launching.
this system is great .
the darts frame rails are tied for support and has a 8 point anti-roll cage . chromoly .
when it launches. it comes out straight as an arrow . no twisting at all .
just the front wheels are in the air .
the nitrous was used 4 years ago a couple times on the street. never at the track.
I used a 100 shot on the street and the dart just went crazy . With a 150 nitrous this little dart will run 10. 50's all day maybe better. it will run 11. 00's on motor all day long. front wheels in the air .
I'm selling the old girl because of $$ problems. can't afford to run her with gasoline this high and i'll be 60 years old . I have to act my age now days.
You won't find a better quality built street/strip mopar out there for sure . I know. I built this one from scratch with pride .
I guarantee you will have a smile from ear to ear with this 11. 0 sec street machine. I do.
