1965 VW Split Screen 11 Window Camper Van – Left Hand Drive. Fully Restored.

Here we have a stunning 1965 Splitty that has been subject to a massive restoration and has been modified for the ultimate setup. I can hands down say that this is the best Split Screen I have ever driven. The performance is absolutely superb and the bus is very responsive in every department.

 The bus was originally used for a TV company and later sold to a lady in Tunbridge Wells who mostly dry stored it in her barn but never registered it. It was purchased by the previous owner in 2011 where it was then upgraded with a significant amount of new featured.

 Here is a summary of what has been done to achieve such a fantastic bus.  

·        Engine fully rebuilt by renowned and respected VW engine specialist Richard Morena and has only covered 2000 miles since.  Built as a 1776cc. Lightened/Balanced Crank/Flywheel. full flow oil system. remote cooler and filter. Petronic Electonic  ignition and coil. Scat stainless rocker covers. Stainless sidewinder exhaust. Twin Dellorto 36 DRLA Complete with Bellcrank  linkage. 36hp Scat fan shroud.

·        GT Gearbox with Rhino Gearbox mountings

·        IRS Suspension with KYB Shocks. Type 2 Detectives shock mount kit. /span>

·        Lowered adjustable front beam with 75mm dropped spindles.

·        Creative Engineering Steering Rack

·        KYB GR2 Front Shocks

·        Interior comprises of an L Shape rear layour complete with ‘a touch of class' upholstery. This company are renowned for    kitting out a van used in a Madonna video a few years back. The L shape rear layout can be assembled easily to form a double  bed in the rear.

·        Headliner fitted by Bernard Newbury

·        Brushed aliminium side pop outs

·        US Spec Bumpers

·        Immobiliser

 The bodywork is in beautiful condition with lovely straight side panels and no wobbly filler marks like many busses that  haven't been restored properly. Brand new Creative Engineering chrome front badge fitted but also supplied with the original  Chrome badge from new (Very rare indeed).

 It's not hard to see why the bus is so incredible to drive after reading the spec. The bus is very reliable and starts first time.  every time. The bus comes fully MOT'd and is Road Tax Fee Exempt.

 I will be fitting a brand new Creative Engineering 3 bow roof rack at the end of the week and will update some more pictures  once this is complete.
