Current customer rating: current rating for this car(4.2) based on 478 votes
Up for sale is this 30 k mile 1966 Corvair Monza Convertible. This car was a two time national Corsa award winner for best in class. senior division. With an incredibly low documented 30. 00 miles this car drives and runs like a new Corvair. This resto-mod never had any rust and has upgrades not found on a normal Corvair. These include cruise control. custom interior with cloth bucket seats. rear spoiler with integrated brake light. power antenna and CD stereo. This car continues to win awards at local car shows. I have too many Corvairs in my collection and need the garage space and that is the reason for sale.

This car is 100% mechanically sound. needs nothing and can be driven anywhere.

Here is the appraisal report which was done by a well respected company that does them for Barrett Jackson. Mecum and others. PDF copy available on request.
Body and Chassis The car has been restored previously according to the current owner in 1998. The car was restored by a longtime friend. The body on the car was thoroughly inspected as well as the under carriage. The car was always a very good example. The sheet metal was all original to the car. I found no signs of prior or current rust or accidents. The chassis on the car was also excellent and original. The car was completely refinished during the restoration. The under carriage was sprayed in black and was very clean. The floors. rockers. rear quarters. fenders. and doors were all in excellent condition. The car was refinished in a custom paint that showed a few different colors depending on the light hitting it. The finish on the paint was excellent. The finish was also the same age as the restoration. It was truly fantastic considering it's age. There were absolutely no signs of the paint sinking into prior work underneath. The paint was measured on all panels. The paint thickness was very consistent on all areas. I did pickup on the fact that the rear quarters paint was a bit thicker that the other panels. This was not due to work. just perhaps extra coats that were applied during the process. The quality of the work was fantastic both in finish and prep.

Bright Work The chrome and trim on the car all were in excellent condition. All of the items appeared to factory original. All trim was in excellent condition. well fasted. and free of any visible damage. The bumpers were perfect. The chrome was well done. All trim. door handles. bumpers. wheel moldings. were in excellent condition.
Convertible Top The top on the car was in excellent condition. The top has never been down to avoid creases in it. The top fitment was excellent and the material used was of top quality. The rear window was excellent.
Glass All of the glass on the car was original and in excellent condition. I found no scratches. chips. or any issues. All original manufacture markings were present and photographed.
Wheels and Tires The car has a good set of radials that were in excellent condition. They were mounted to an after market steel wheel that was chromed. The wheels and tires were both in excellent condition.
Interior The interior on the car was original with the exception of the seats which are a 1980's vintage. The dash was in excellent condition. The gauges were in excellent original condition. The carpets were replaced and in excellent condition. All of the interior trim and chrome was in excellent condition. All windows worked as designed. The car indicated very low original mileage. and in my opinion of the quality of the original interior pieces. this is very probable. The title on the indicates actual mileage. which is not entirely conclusive. However. based on many variables. ownership history. and the cars overall condition. I feel this is accurate. Everything in the interior was in excellent interior overall. A few upgrades have been performed. such as audio. seating. and cruise control.
Mechanically The car was visually inspected for mechanical issues on ground and on a lift provided by the seller. All items for engine. transmission. suspension. and brakes looked excellent and well serviced. The was takes for an evaluation drive that proved the car to be excellent. The car ran perfect. shifted perfect. and handled as I expected. The car was very tight and steering was excellent. The car rode excellent and was solid and free of rattles and squeaks. Overall the car was an excellent mechanical example that performed perfectly on the road. All electrical items were tested. All lights. horn. signals. radio. fan. and heater all worked as designed. The cruise was not tested. and according to the owner. was never used. The engine compartment was in excellent condition. It was very clean. we'll detailed. and well sorted. Everything appeared as original with the exception of the added cruise control.
Front Compartment The front storage was finished in a custom carpet that was very nicely done. The work was done to a high standard and finished with good material. The install of this carpet made it impossible to find the trim tags for the car. This wasn't much of and issue due to the fact the color or interior were original to the car.
Summary The car was restored in an unusual way in color and interior. but was done to a very high standard. The paint was fantastic and the car had excellent and sharp lines. I knew within a moment of my arrival this was a quality car. The owner was a very nice man with an unusual reason for selling. Money was not a factor with the sale. I feel the car was very well represented. The car was an absolute pleasure to drive. The car has market limitations for many reasons however the cars structural integrity and quality of finish make this car quite a bargain in my eyes. I would place a recommendation of strong buy at the pricing that this example is available for.
Signed.
