Humber Hawk 1966
With regret i am selling my pride and joy 1966 Humber hawk as i do not have the time or space to complete it anymoreit has had alot mechanicaly done to it
Story Of This Hawk it was purchased on 28 th march 1966 from Oak Garage Great Yeldham Essex by a gentleman call Mr R J Ruffles of Long Melford Suffolk for the price of £1204 ( i know this as i have the original purchase reciept and manufactures warrenty ). Mr Ruffles owned this car until 28 th October 1988 until he sold it to a Mrs A Raper of Margaretting Chelmsford. Mrs Raper brought the hawk with her late husband to use for a sunday drive. they had it re-sprayed and some parts chromed. shorlty after completing sadly Mr Raper passed away. The hawk was put into a dry garage and left sitting untill september 2011 when i purchesed the car.
when i first got the Hawk. it did not start or drive.
i spent alot of money and time on getting the car up and running. the body was in great condition when i got my hands on it. with no rust on the body or on the chasie. just some minor cosmetic niggles
to get it running and driving i replaced the followingall new brake and clutch pipesnew clutchnew clutch master cylinernew clutch slavenew brake masternew rear brake pistonsnew EBC front pads and disc'sreconditioned front brake calipersnew brake light pressure switchnew fuel pumpreconditioned dynamoreconditioned starter motornew rocker gasketsnew water pipesnew water pump gasket kitnew window wiper motornew front wheel bearings both sidesnew front track end rods both sides Front and back wheels have been widened proberly was more but cant remember anymore!!
The engine starts on the button now from cold and ticks over lovely when i put it through its MOT in Feburay 2012 it sailed straight through with only 4 advisorys what have been corrected since This is such a realible classic car. i have driven long distances in it and had not problems! sits at 60 mph no problem on a motorway and feels great!have proof to show that this is a genuine 42 k mile car! (not like all these you see on supposed low milage what you know are reall on 100 k+)
now time for the bad bits
has 2 chips out of the paint work like the 1 shown in picture 12 the paint work has micro blister all over the car (not rust underneath just bad paint)some of the chrome has slight pittingback bumper ideally needs replacing/repairings as it has a couple of dents and a fair amount of scratchsthe head liner is stained with a rip in as shown in picture 8 the carpets in the back have a little bit of damage from mothsthe wood on the dash has some hair line cracks
