Recent Restoration

The Torino was a new line for Ford introduced towards the end of the great muscle car movement.

Although there were 14 variations of this car. for a few short years. they made a monster of a muscle car with the Cobra and GT.

This platform also proved to be extremely competitive in the NASCAR arena due to its wind tunnel design.

However. because these cars were a bit under the radar of the muscle car community. not many of them survived.

Obviously Ford hit a homerun as the 1970 Torino was awarded the car of the year by Motor Trend magazine.

This particular example has recently had a complete engine rebuild and repaint.

During the bare metal repaint. the previous owner decided to remove the side GT stripes and replace with a Cobra style hood finish and Cobra decals.

The letter from Ford Motor Co. shows this highly optioned Torino ordered in the following configuration:

The current owner purchased this Torino GT in its current condition a few years ago from a local Ford dealership here in Orange County. CA.

They were selling the car on consignment for the primary owner who had the car restored while in his care.

At one point (at the height of the muscle car craze in the mid 2000's). he had serious offers from collectors in the low 6-figure range.

Unfortunately. he didn't take those offers and ended up loosing quite a bit of money.

While in his care. he had the body stripped and repainted its original color as well as the engine torn down to the block and completely rebuilt. (see photos).

Since restoration. this Torino has been lightly used for car shows and an estimated less than 1. 00 miles have been added.

The 71. 00 original miles is believed to be the original miles due to condition.

The body is in excellent condition with minimal signs of use.

The interior is more original and unrestored.

It looks like the seats were reupholstered but the headliner and dash appear to be original and unrestored.

There is a tear on the headliner on the inside of the C-pillar and a small crack on the center of the dash.

Everything appears to work properly including the original radio.

California registration is paid through May of 2014.

This Torino comes with the Marti Report. Letter of Authenticity from Ford. original owner's Manual. and copy of Motor Trend 1970 article.
