Description
1968 Volkswagen Beetle Hot Rod
• Classic Beetle with hood and grille from a 1930 s car
• Open front suspension with front disk brakes and freestanding headlights
• Light blue exterior with black and blue plaid interior
• 1.2 L flat, air-cooled four-cylinder engine
• Four-speed manual transmission
• VDO gauges, roof rack
Tuners and body shop workers have demonstrated the variety of ways to modify a Volkswagen Beetle, this example is yet another way of doing a hot rod Beetle that is a blast to drive!
This 1968 Beetle has had a facelift – the front fenders have been removed and there are a pair of free-standing headlights in front of the exposed front suspension. Between the front disk brake wheels is a different frunk, formed by the hood and former engine compartment of a 1930 s American car, complete with a tall, chrome grille.
The light blue paint and the car's trim are in overall very good order. The body is straight. There is just a driver's side windshield wiper. Tinted plastic bubbles replace the rear side windows, and a roof rack provides extra storage atop the car.
This Bug rolls on Americus Tourist radials up front, size 165/80 R 15 and Bridgestone Potenza RE 97 all-season tires. Each tire is mounted onto an American Racing five-spoke wheel. The wheels and tires are all in very good order.
Out back, as expected, is a 1.2 L flat, air-cooled, four-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission.
Inside, the interior has been reimagined. A pair of black bucket seats with power settings for the driver look good. Gray floor mats complement the seats while the factory, two-spoke steering wheel remains. A blue plaid headliner and inner door panels all look very good while the metal dash, with its VDO gauges, is in good, original order but the fuel gauge, tachometer and speedometer are inoperable. An aftermarket tachometer rides above a Craig AM/FM stereo with cassette deck. It and a floor-mounted complete the interior.
