Beautiful and rare pro-built International pickup. 350 Chevrolet power, TH350 3-speed automatic, power steering and A/C for easy handling, new interior, and steel bodywork. A great little truck that gets the job done, whether the job is cruising or hauling.

You don't see many International pickups from the ‘30s these days, mostly because they were such durable trucks that they were worked until there was just nothing left. Seriously, when was the last time you saw one of these? It has a distinctive look, from the painted grille shell to the upright cab, and despite its status as a work vehicle for most of its life, it's actually quite beautiful. Check out the flowing fenders, the swept-back louvers in the hood that match the angle of the windshield, and the delicate belt moldings that look like they belong on a much more expensive vehicle. Nothing was chopped or modified during the build and it's all steel except the rear fenders, which are slightly wider than stock. The colors are VW Electric Blue over Corvette Daytona Yellow, and the combination is striking, particularly with the bright orange pinstripe separating the colors (dig how it wraps into the door jambs!). A few chrome pieces add just the right amount of 1930s charm and experts will quickly spot the Model A Ford bumpers, which fit almost like they were designed for this truck. Strategic use of spray-on bedliner makes this truck useful, not just a show piece, so you can actually toss stuff in the bed and put it to work on weekends (you'll also note that the raised ribs on the running boards are covered in the same durable material). This is a hobby truck that not only shines at shows but will draw a crowd at the local home store or garden center, too!

The blue leather interior is brand new, stitched by Johnny Miller and far nicer than the original vinyl, rubber, and steel accommodations installed by International. The bench seat makes the most of the cab's compact dimensions so even taller drivers can get comfortable, and a tilt steering column with custom-wrapped billet wheel certainly helps. A custom panel houses an array of white-faced instruments, while a custom panel under the dash neatly camouflages the inner workings and includes vents and controls for the Vintage Air A/C system. The long-handled shifter has a vintage feel and to make this truck feel truly updated, there's a 12V power point and a powerful Kenwood stereo system whose speakers are hidden throughout the interior. Check out the neat little details like map pockets in the doors, custom floor mats with matching blue leather binding, and the beautifully fitted headliner—this was not a cut-rate build by any means.

A truck like this is about reliability, and nothing beats a familiar 350 cubic inch Chevy V8. Rebuilt but not radical, it makes plenty of power to make the truck feel punchy, but it also relaxes and cruises with you when you're not trying to impress anyone. After all these years of selling hot rods, we've come to realize the journey is more important than how quickly you can get there, and this truck's attitude is tailored to match. An Edelbrock carburetor up top, aluminum heads, and an HEI distributor all help balance the performance-to-reliability ratio and make it very easy to live with. You'll also notice block-hugger headers that leave plenty of room for the power steering and A/C plumbing, a dual power master cylinder on the firewall, and a massive radiator up front with an engine-driven fan, which is still the best way to keep your rod cool. It starts with just a few pumps of the accelerator, idles nicely, and pulls the lightweight International around with real vigor. Punch it and it'll spin the tires but go easy and it even pulls down decent fuel economy. Nice!

The frame is still the original International pieces, and given the thick side rails and beefy cross-members, there's no reason to do anything more radical. The front suspension is actually fairly stock, complete with leaf springs and a dropped I-beam axle, while out back there's a GM 10-bolt rear with 3.08 gears inside. A custom dual exhaust system features Thrush glasspack-style mufflers for a great soundtrack and the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is fortified with a frame-mounted billet cooler. It's simple, which means there's not much to go wrong, and it drives great with a vintage feel and modern performance. Isn't that the point? That awesome stance comes complements of a set of custom-built Wheelsmith aluminum wheels, painted to match the bodywork and fitted with 255/60/17 front and 265/60/18 rear Diamondback whitewall radials.

I know a lot of you guys like the looks of old cars but want the modern comforts like A/C and power steering. Well, this truck delivers. It's sorted, it drives right, and it's always going to be one-of-a-kind at any show you attend. That's what having a cool hobby vehicle is all about. Call today!
