Vehicle Details

Selling a 2004 American General HMMWV M 1123 6.5 L NA diesel with overdrive transmission, apparently named “Smokin' Joe” as was stencil-painted on the front hood prior to me getting it. The vehicle came from the Yermo location as a troop carrier and now reads 7780 miles on the odometer (actual mileage can't be guaranteed with military vehicles, but it read 7747 when I received it). I am the first civilian owner, bought it directly from govplanet, and have successfully titled it in the state of Idaho. Being a troop carrier, I believe the vehicle was more frequently used and has some character to it, which I have grown to appreciate, like the paint worn off in the bed from the boots of Marines. I have some pictures of its original condition which I can pass on to the new owner. The vehicle starts and runs well and I occasionally drive it around town. I have done an incredible amount of work on it to keep it maintained, all of it I have done myself, so if you want to know more we can chat. I've listed as much of the maintenance as I can remember, enhancements, and the known issues it has (keep in mind there could be additional issues unknown to me) to the best of my knowledge. While the vehicle is in driving condition I would recommend shipping it to your destination. Sold in as-is condition. Buyer responsible for complying with their laws and understanding if the registration/title can be achieved in their locality.Maintenance-related things I've done:-

Replaced all glow plugs with Kascar plugs-

Added the Kascar grounding kit-

Replaced the transmission pan with a pan that has a drain-

Replaced all upper and all lower ball joints-

Replaced cabin heater ducting-

Replaced fuel filter-

Dropped and cleaned fuel tank-

Replaced fuel level sender-

Replaced all gauges except speedometer/odometer (to preserve integrity)-

Replaced power steering fluid and filter-

Replaced air filter-

New windshields and retaining hardware-

Replaced accelerator and bushing-

Camber adjustment on passenger rear by removing shims (since the truck is much lighter than originally configured as a troop carrier, the camber was too far negative on this wheel)-

Degreased and painted with flat-black much of the under carriage for rust protection and appearance. There was minimal rust to begin with, this helps keep it that way.-

Most of the steering components replaced to tighten up steering: New tie rods, New connecting links, New pitman arm, New idler arm, New stabilizer bar bushings-

Most of the lubrication order performed (only didn't do the super easy stuff like spraying door hinges with oil): New engine oil/filter, New transmission fluid/filter, New geared hub oil all around, New front/rear differential oil, New transfer case oil, New power steering fluid, Greased fittings, and most fittings were replaced, Accelerator bushing lube, All new steering components greased, -

Coolant TSP flush, DI water flush, and new coolant Enhancements I've done:-

New Mile Marker 24 V electric winch rated at 12000 lbs with a custom welded winch bracket only adding ½” extensions to the front grill. I spent a lot of time on this bracket to ensure minimal extension of the front of the vehicle.-

Custom built a brush guard to account for the winch-

New Mickey Thompson Baja MTZP 3 40 x 13.5 x 17 tires, I choose to not mess around with mil-spec tires and the difficulty in servicing them. No spare tire is included.-

American Racing Baja 17 x 9 rims with 3640 pound rating (original 12-bolt rims and run-flats included)-

Plan B-Spec Cab Kit full enclosure with locking x-doors-

New Corbeau Moab seats-

All 4 springs replaced with Midwest 1.5” lifting and ride enhancement springs (M 1123 HD springs included) and new shocks all around-

Rear spring perches replaced with M 998 perches for lift spring install (M 1123 rear perches included)-

1” thick rubber mat placed throughout cabin for noise control-

Security device (new owner to be briefed on it)-

New Optima Blue top 34 M marine 800 CCA batteries and tray adaptors-

Milodon 180 degree thermostat for reduced chance of overheating Known issues:-

Intermittent power steering leak, which I suspect is due to some air in the system, or Dexron VI (listed as Dex III compatable) , or possibly the hydroboost needing rebuilt. Was not leaking until I replaced the fluid which makes me think it might be fluid/air related.-

Wait-light blinking upon pre-engine start-up. The glow plugs appear to be functioning properly, but the wait light blinks rather than solid on. I caused this early on by accidentally connecting the batteries while unknown to me the ignition was switched “on.” I haven't felt the need to replace the controller as it seems to still be doing its job with the glow plugs functioning properly.-

Gauge cluster lights are not working. I replaced both bulbs but they still don't come on. I didn't troubleshoot further but likely a bad ground somewhere behind the cluster ">
