(Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1985 GMC K1500 on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's possible that you've only seen some of our many photographs of the truck due to third-party website limitations. To be sure you access all of the more than 145 photographs, as well as a short start-up and walk-around video, and a link to the GMC's accident-and-damage-free, low-mileage Carfax history report, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.)

"A good truck can be the start of a long friendship." – Period GMC Pickup Truck magazine ad headline

Hagerty characterized the attractive design of these GM pickups this way: "Whether Chevrolet or GMC, the General's third-generation, 'square-body' trucks were a dramatic departure from the company's previous efforts. The third-gen models featured squared-off front and rear fascia, subtle body contours honed by wind-tunnel testing, a more accommodating and ergonomic interior... a style decades ahead of its time."

Offered here is a perfectly maintained, time-capsule 1985 GMC K1500 Sierra Classic short-bed 4WD pickup in white over dark red. A Wyoming truck, the GMC has traveled just 41,296 miles to date. That's fewer than 1,150 miles per-year on average. Its excellent overall condition shows how owner pride, attention to regular servicing, and restrained-use mileage can result in a virtually timeless vehicle.

The exterior white paint shows beautifully on every surface, with no indication of fading or other damage. Indeed, the truck appears much as it did the day it was driven out of the dealer showroom 36 years ago. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) A full, black-hard-plastic cargo-bed liner is installed to protect that area of the truck. There is no noteworthysign of body damage anywhere; the truck's front grille and tailgate are perfect. Chrome front bumper and rear bumpers are in excellent condition as is the truck's cargo bed. All emblems and identification-including the front GMC grille emblem, front-fender "Sierra Classic" model-designation emblems, and the GMC logo emblem on the tailgate's brushed-metal trim piece-are properly in place. Lighting lenses (including on the quad headlights) and cabin glass-including the sliding rear window-are perfectly clear and undamaged. Factory 15-inch steel wheels with chrome trim rings (and front locking hubs with rear "4x4"-labeled hubs) are mounted with Hankook® Dynapro outline-white letter LT235/75 all-terrain tires.

Inside, the "solid as new" theme continues. Literally every surface, every control, every aspect of the interior fully merits that description. The very attractive, patterned, long-wearing dark-red fabric and vinyl seat upholstery deserves special attention; its lightly textured design is a particularly appealing style to the present day. The black GMC-branded steering wheel frames the classic, square-design, brushed-metal-trimmed GM truck instrument cluster. Air-conditioning and heating controls are slide-levers. An upgraded Kenwood® audio head unit is mounted in the factory-radio location (with slight damage in the mounting-area trim). Even the indicator needles on the instruments appear brand new. The shift lever for the stock 4-speed manual transmission is floor-mounted alongside the transfer-case selector lever. Cabin floor carpeting is protected with rubber matting.

Under the hood, the venerable 350-cubic-inch GM V8 has been maintained in a clean and well-ordered engine bay. All components are correctly mounted, and no modifications are evident. In the same way, viewed from below, the truck's chassis is complete, original, and undamaged. As a Wyoming truck, only expected surface rust is present. Again, there is no sign of damage of any sort.

All build tags and VIN markings are present and unaltered. The original owner's manual packet is included in the sale.

While the more than 145 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this GMC K1500 in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

The GMC brand has a long, storied history. Tough trucks that last. This beautifully kept white 4WD short-bed is a perfect example.

About Garage Kept Motors

Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.

For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.

For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
