1972 TEASER.1966 BATMOBILES'(TM) LITTLE SIS.72 XKE DESIGN.BUTTS BUILT.COBRA 289 for sale
Current customer rating: (370 votes ) based onFrom The Bob Butts Movie Car Collection. Butts Fantasy Car Ranch. El Cajon Ca. . This Cobra Teaser was built for a James Bond Movie back in the late 70's she was molded from a 72 JAGUAR XKE widened 10" in the rear a custom built Indianapolis racing frame with an Original 289 Hi performance Ford COBRA motor. two speed automatic trans. It never got in the movie but was used in a music video never found out the name of it and Mrs Butts couldn't remember. There is two rear deck lids the top one is removable as to give the car two different looks so when James Bond was being chased they could remove the top one and he could drive out looking like a different car. This car has never been registered for street use and still needs windshield wipers and front blinkers to make it legal for street use. This is a one of a kind car! There are no more like it in the world and there will never be another one built by the Famous Butts Fantasy Car Ranch. THE ONLY ONE IN EXISTENCE!! THERE ISN'T ANOTHER ONE!! Now this baby draws a crowd when it pulls up. It came up from California on a Truck full of Rare Classics and it was the only car people asked about.
BILL OF SALES ONLY NEVER BEEN REG. FOR STREET.
Why Buy a Cobra Kit car with the V8 heart of a Ford Station Wagon when you can buy a Bob Butts Built SUPERCAR with the V8 heart of a COBRA?George Barris. he 1966 Batmobile(TM) designer himself. had Bob Butts do some serious Batmobile(TM) building and between them both they built a lot of the cars used for Movies and Television in the 60's 70's and 80's. This Car will blow the doors off of many of the AC Cobra kits on Ebay. and no matter where and how far you go NOBODY will be driving the same car as you. Truly a ONE OF A KIND!!!!Comes with its original museum display plaque. Bid right and the Batmobiles' (TM) Wicked Little Sister can be yours.
Low opening for such a Rare Car and NO RESERVE!!!!!BATMOBILE(TM) A trademark of Warner Bros. &DC Comics
(UPDATE) :I got a few emails asking about frame specifics. The only one who could have answered with any clarity is Bob Butts but I did post some frame photos. VERY strong frame!!!Vehicles made for television and Movies are not cheap flimsy mock ups. They are built to withstand more stresses than a regular car. At the time Bob Butts paid the equivalent of what he would spend for a brand new Corvette for this frame alone. Sorry. ot it a bit dirty running through a mud puddle taking it into the Garage.

Dear jmharmia. /strong>
Looks GREAT! My name is Paul Sher and I used to work for Bob back in the 90's. (You can confirm with Joan if you like. ) It's good to see this car without a ton of dust on it. Bob and I used to sit on it while we discussed him selling me this Toyota JP6 that was always parked next to it. The Teaser wasn't my "cup of tea". I had eyes for the Six. But he DID tell me that he used a Cobra chassis and it would be worth my time to rip the body off and put a replica cobra body on it and I would have a VERY valuable car! You might want to get some Cobra people to verify this.
All the best!
Paul
Dear code_one_movie_carz. /strong>
Hi Paul. Thanks for the informative email!
I can see where a JP6 would get your attention. VERY Cool! And it sounded like it was a great place to work :)
Can you remember If Bob said it was a DAYTONA COBRA chassis? I think the Dealer I bought it from may have gotten DAYTONA mixed up with INDIANAPOLIS and rather than told it was an Indianapolis Chassis He was told DAYTONA. Just mixed up when he told me.
It would all start to make a little bit more sense.
Did you ever get the JP6 from Mr. Butts?
Julie :)

Lol. There seems to be lively debate on the Chassis and I cannot contact the original Builder to ask him(Bob Butts) without a Seance. I can only supply information from those who were there. the dealer I bought the car from and the photos. THE THINGS NOT UP FOR DEBATE:I will guarantee the following. IT IS A BOB BUTTS BUILT CAR THAT WAS ON DISPLAY AT THE FANTASY CAR RANCH SINCE THE 1970's. THE BODY MR. BUTTS DESIGNED FROM A 1972 JAGUAR XKEIT HAS A DUAL REAR DECK APPEARANCE. YOU CAN CHOOSE WHICHEVER ONE YOU WISH BY ADDING OT PULLING A FEW PINS. IT HAS A STRONG AND SOLID FRAME. ANDLES LIKE A DREAM AND RUNS LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL WITH THE 289 COBRA MOTOR THAT YOU ALMOST NEED A PILOTS LICENSE TO RUN. WHILE IT WAS BUILT FOR THE MOVIES IT HAS LITTLE LEFT TO DO TO MAKE IT STREET LEGAL. WHERE AND WHAT IS UP FOR DEBATE BUT MR. BUTTS DID PAY WHAT A BRAND NEW CORVETTE WOULD COST AT THE TIME FOR THE FRAME!IT IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR THAT PEOPLE CANNOT KEEP FROM STARING AT!!!
Have your own expert take a peek. Maybe THEY can tell ME something new and cool about it :DThank you all for your interest!!Julie :)

Dear jmharmia. /strong>
Hi. Although this car is not street legal I drove it for a day using a dealer plate from El Cajon Ford. I toured up through Alpine CA then down to La Jolla ended the day back in El Cajon before taking it back to his warehouse. at that time called Eldorado Doors. The car was exceptional to drive. typically brutal and outrageously fast. Good luck with your auction.
