Current customer rating:
1970 Jaguar XKE
This 1970 Jaguar XKE showing 78,000 miles has gone through extensive servicing over the last year and a half and now drives exceptionally well.
The car has been owned by the same individual for 44 years. Prior to its recent servicing, this Jaguar was repainted from its original Willow Green to British Racing Green, approximately 20 years ago. The paint shows well for its age with very few scratches or swirls. There is a bit of discoloration between the door and the bonnet which can be seen in the photos. Additionally, the drivers' side door has a few small dimple dents, the largest of which is approximately the size of a dime. Around the same time the car was painted, both driver and passenger side floor pans were replaced and undercoated. Photos of the floorplans being replaced are
available
upon request. The interior is mostly original and shows very well. The original stereo was replaced with a din-style unit, with two additional speaker boxes placed behind the driver and passenger seats. The original stereo is included. The power antenna has been replaced and works as it should. The original black convertible top was recently refurbished and is in excellent condition. Over the past year and a half, approximately $5500 worth of servicing was done to the car to ensure that it runs and drives well, after having sat in storage for a number of years. This servicing included the following: Inspection and cleaning of the coolant and fuel systems including new lines Repaired cooling fans New clutch master and slave cylinders Brake system inspected Vacuum system inspected New spark plugs Engine and transmission fluid changed Rear differential serviced Corrosion on distributor addressed New coolant hoses and clamps New upper and lower heater core lines w/ clamps Front upper and lower ball joints New front shocks New engines mounts Replaced brake fluid reservoir New cabin air blower motor and fan. Greased rear bearing cavities and all accessible points on the rear axle New sound deadening material for drivers side floor/firewall area Carburetor gaskets replaced. New air filter and duct gasket New horn New reverse lights New V-Belt As well as four new Michelin Tires. Receipts for all the recent servicing are available upon request. The original Lucas oil pressure gauge is inaccurate, reading higher than it should. It has been tested against a mechanical gauge, to ensure that the oil pressure is within the specified range.
Additionally, after driving the car approximately 100 miles, an oil dip was noticed coming from the backside of the engine towards the passenger side. We are currently investigating and will likely update if we have either alleviated or better determined the issue. Although the floorplans have replaced, a rust spot in the corner of the drivers' side floor pan was noticed, it has been addressed as well as a few other small spots.
Despite its imperfections, the car runs and drives very well, and is ready for a new home.
