1986 GMC Vandura Chevy C20 Crown Royal Party Boogie Van

OVERVIEW:This is a very unique and well-engineered custom ‘boogie van' and can best be described as a ‘party on wheels'.  It is a 1986 GMC G2500 Vandura converted to Chevy badging, and has features that truly separate it from the pack at any van get together.This custom engineered build was completed earlier this year, it blends the 70's vannin' craze with the timeless party effects of lights and sound, expressed in both interior and exterior, and melded thru modern tech and electronics.Packaged in a very solid and most desirable ‘shorty' van body with ‘barn' style doors side and rear, it is themed with Crown Royal purple velvet panels, and skull accents.

  The most innovative aspect of this custom is that both interior sides are equipped with ‘virtual window' screens which can display exterior scenes and events in real time.  Check these out further down the listing!

 

   The party is mobilized by a newer, smooth and strong running 350 ci. V8 contained within a very clean and tidy engine bay, with many new or upgraded peripherals.It is mated to a Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission, and is brought to a stop by 4-wheel disc brakes.

 

   Its rebirth into a custom boogie van sprang from the mind and talents of its owner/builder who applied his engineering skills and knowledge to its creation.Numerous hours were spent on this build, which has been trouble free during his enjoyment of it and is being offered with no known issues of concern.  Current odometer reading is 346,589 km. (212K miles), although the newer drivetrain has far fewer actual miles.

DRIVETRAIN:The newer 350 ci. V8 engine was thoroughly inspected for the build and found to be in excellent condition.  It starts easily, sounds good, runs smooth and strong, and does not leak or smoke.

 

   Fronted by an aluminum radiator cooled by electric fans, the engine sports many new components such as carb & air cleaner, valve covers, fuel-water-power steering pumps, pulleys, alternator, belts & hoses, etc…Detailing is indicative of attention to the build and care of maintenance the owner bestows on it.

 

   Transmission is a Turbo 350 3-speed, shifts as it should.Rear diff shows no pinion leak and has a cast aluminum rear cover.No evidence of any serious leaks noted.

 

     

CHASSIS:Unibody construction integrated the frame rails into the floor pan, and these ‘shorty' vans had a 110” wheelbase.  The undercarriage on this unit is very solid and rust free, and overall quite clean showing only the road dust of use since its build.  There is no evidence of it ever having had collision damage or rust issues.

 

   Power steering system serviced with new components as required, no excessive free play.Power brake system is all new from the pedal back, including master cylinder, lines and hoses.  Equipped with Wilwood oversize discs at all 4 corners.Front coils along with extra leaf on rear springs maintain the van in a proper stance.New upper control arms and Monroe shocks up front, new Rancho shocks at rear.

 

   New dual exhaust system with Hedman headers and FlowMaster mufflers.Chrome quad exhaust tips ahead of rear wheels.Fuel tank appears in very good condition.

 

   Has a trailer tow package wired for 7 prong connector, with dash mounted brake controller.Vanarky rides on 10-spoke US Mags alloy wheels with spinner center caps. Tires are a matched set of Nitto NTSSS directional blackwall radials in excellent condition, 235/50ZR18 on the front, 295/45ZR18 on the rear.The rear door mounted spare under hard cover is a match to the fronts.  Jack included.

 

       

BODY & PAINT:All panel gaps and fit look good, and all panels are very straight.Body and panels show no evidence of prior rust, collision damage, or repairs.

 

   The body and paint present in very good condition.Only 3 small blemishes are noted on the body, all in the right rear area, pointed out with a pen in the photos.  The only crack noted is shown at either side of the right running board.

 

   The metallic blue paint work is done in a base/clear finish.  It has not been polished and as such presents a regular gun finish with good shine, although the hood is storage dusty in some of the pics.Being as it has not been wet sanded or polished it leaves opportunity to be brought up a notch to show quality.

 

       

ELECTRICAL – ELECTRONICS - ENTERTAINMENT:Wiring throughout is in very good condition, it is a combination of good serviceable original and new as required, which has been neatly installed and routed, properly sheathed, fused and labeled.Power comes from a new high-output Optima battery.

 

   All exterior lighting is operational and plastic lenses are new.  Equipped with high-intensity headlamps, as well as high-intensity LED fog lights in the front spoiler.Puddle lights come on when doors are opened, they shine the Chevy bow-tie within a circle onto the running board or ground.

 

   Stock dash gauges are speedometer and fuel.A tri-gauge package centrally located on the upper forward console is nicely positioned facing the driver.Outer ends of that console house overhead speakers.

 

   To the rear of it is a cockpit style overhead console housing 12 aircraft toggle switches that control the various electronics.  Each toggle is protected by a flip down shield which is labeled according to its function.This console also houses aircraft reading lights, and is flanked by his and hers sunroofs.

 

      Set up for hands-free phone.Equipped with a backup camera.Trailer brake controller to the left of steering column.Set of musical horns behind coolant reservoir play ‘Tequila!'

 

   Interior has multiple USB charging points.Two 150W inverters are available to run 110V devices.

  The left interior panel and right side barn door are equipped with flat screens, which are fed real time video by left and right exterior facing pinhole cameras, essentially creating ‘virtual' windows which can display exterior scenery and events, such as a car during a right shoulder check.

 

  The sound system is an in-dash Pioneer AVH-420 NEX double DIN with touch screen, 1000W of amplification from 3 separate MTX amplifiers, six 6” speakers and two 12” sub-woofers, equipped with Bluetooth and remote.

   This van is equipped to the max with party time lighting effects both inside and outside.  Multiple colors are brought to life being synched to the music.On the outside there is ground effects lighting behind the grille and along the undercarriage.The interior dome has strips of LED ‘blue mood' lights, and it gets rockin' with strobes and lazers topped off with a ‘disco ball'.Be sure to watch the video further below!

 

   

INTERIOR:The comfortable front seats are modern Toyota ‘captains' chairs which swivel 180 degrees to take you from road time to party time.  They have headrests, dual arm rests, lumbar, tilt, and the safety of modern seat belts.Two more optional seats can go with the van if you're inclined to install them.

 

   Door and interior paneling is Crown Royal purple velvet bags custom sewn uppers, with aluminum checker plate lowers.  Window crank knobs are gold crowns.Checker plate accents on dash, also used for step plates.Shifter, dash control, and door lock knobs are skulls.

 

   Windshield and door glass is all good.New OEM seals installed at all doors.Nice upgraded Grant GT steering wheel.Custom old school ‘surfer foot' gas pedal.New reproduction carpeting front and rear.Single bunk in rear has memory foam mattress, reading lamps, a power inverter, and provides storage area.

 

       

BRIGHTWORK:The Chevy grille is in very nice condition, as are the headlamp surrounds.Front bumper is GMC in very nice condition, rear bumper is NOS.

 

   Chevy Van side emblems and side mirrors are all in good condition, as are the aluminum running board plates.Mag wheels and spinner center caps all very nice, as are the quad side exhaust pipes.
