Jaguar XK140 SE FHC Project for sale
Current customer rating:
This is a project for an enthusiast who loves driving these wonderful cars the way they were intended.
Car has been fully stripped and body is ready to be restored. New chassis is in dry fit rolling condition.
Almost all original parts are included, with a few notable exceptions. The original type-c head was replaced with a MKVII head back in the 1960's, as was the square body fuel pump. Because of this, and the state of the original chassis, the project was started with the intention to build a "homage" to period amateur race and rally cars.
The original starter and dyno were traded in for more modern equivalents and the 1 3/4" H 6 carbs have been replaced with 2" H 8 units from Burlen Fuel Systems. Period correct front disc brakes and uprated front anti-roll bar fitted. AVO adjustable shocks front and rear, with polybushes. Refurbished steering rack, with solid mounts fitted. New rear springs and bushes. Aluminium fuel tank fitted. Stainless steel exhaust, with fitting hardware, supplied. Rear drum brake refurb parts supplied.
As stated above, the original type-c head was lost back in the 60's and replaced with a type-a head. The intention was to have this machined to "fast-road" spec, with large valves and a "hot" cam. There are many highly skilled engineers and workshops that can be recommended to do this work properly, so the very best can be extracted from the engine. Block, crank, inlet manifold, con rods, and timing gear frame are all original. Many new smaller engine components are supplied. Valve covers are from MKVII and have been adapted to accept reproduction "Type-C" badges. Oil sump is also missing and will require to be sourced, noting that reproduction cast aluminium sumps offer many advantages for high performance setups.
All other mechanicals are present and correct to the car, although all will require restoration.
All brightwork, electricals, interior and fittings will require restoration. New period look wiring loom supplied.
The body will require substantial restoration, however new sills, slam panels, front vent boxes, front indicator pods and spare wheel tray are included.
Vehicle is in storage in East Kilbride, Scotland. Viewings available 7 days, on request.
