The Big Healey is one of the rare breed of 1950s sports cars that could be taken straight from the showroom floor to the racetrack--and win. As early as 1953. the Healey's competitive star shone brightly with a twelfth place overall in the gruelling Mille Miglia and a third place in the 12 Hours of Sebring. competing with the likes of Aston Martin and Jaguar. Hugely undervalued in comparison to the C / D-type Jaguars these Healeys offer fantastic value for money.

Body Number 5879 14482 BN2
Chassis 233326
Engine 235326

This 1956 BN2 model we have here is probably the best example in the world. For most cognoscenti the purest iteration. hence the only model worth consideration. it provides something none of its successors could deliver: a wind shield that can be lowered to an almost horizontal position. for the ultimate in fresh-air entertainment.

In fact. the BN2's folding wind shield is quite unique in post-war automotive history. Converted in less than a minute from a characteristic British Roadster to the closest thing this side of a motorcycle on four wheels. driving the Big Healey with the wind shield folded back provides more exciting wind-in-the-face and bugs-in-the-teeth fun than any other sports car I can think of!

From the moment you push the small black Bakelite button to stir the new lightened starter motor. the car feels alive. The engine announces itself with a bark and reacts instantly--almost telepathically--to the throttle as the exhaust belches a throaty tune. sounding and running flawlessly and popping beautifully on the overrun it is truly music to the ears.

Restored to a fantastic standard and finished in White over Black exterior. with Black leather seats piped white. black carpets and black wet weather equipment.

Only a 3 owner - South African delivered car which remained there until 2 years ago.

The restoration cost in £/€ would have been 80-100. 00. the detailing and workmanship on this BN2 is second to none. the door lines are one of the best example we have seen.

Complete with lots of documentation. history. spares. complete tool kit. previously registered in Europe. now being registered in the UK.

Built in 1956 and delivered to South Africa
The first known owner is Mr Dennis Sner of Melodys Ltd. Springs ZA.
Then it was purchased by Mr Basil Burnett. 124 Dunnage Drive. Spaaresbosch Estate. Knynsa CP South Africa.
The car was immediately restored by Basil in 1975 and there are numerous maintenance and repair bills throughout his ownership until 2009.
It is believed the mechanic working on the car had 40 years experience working on AH engines.

Bought by the last and only 3rd Owner in 2008. the car was restored again in 2008/9 to the concourse standards we see today.

The main works were done by Emgee workshop. and by Allan Y Brink. Pretoria. Auto body Specialists Repairs Mirand Johannesburgh did all the body and chassis work.

The restoration is documented by many photos.

There are many receipts for the work and the following improved parts amongst others were fitted to the car

c) Koni type shock absorbers.
