1978 GMC Sierra 1500 C-15/C-10 Sierra for sale
Current customer rating:
For sale by Owner: 1978 GMC Sierra C 15/C-10 42,869 original miles. Sold new in Montana this is a 3 owner truck. The first owner was the city of Missoula road department, 2 nd owner was a retired employee, I am the 3 rd owner. The original title was lost in the previous owners last move, i have obtained a clean and clear Montana bonded title. Originally ordered as a work truck/basic pickup. it has the 250 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine, 3 speed manual transmission on the floor, rear wheel drive short box truck. The original options list is missing but it was ordered with heavy duty springs, power steering, power brakes, no interior power options windows/door locks etc, it is also a radio delete pickup. It was originally tan in color but it was repainted road department yellow when it was put into service. This is one cool classic truck the GM square body C-15/C-10's continue to rise in popularity and price, This is a factory short box not a conversion.

The exhaust is on the louder side it has an aftermarket exhaust header that has a large leak when its cold, when the engine is warm its minimal but it will need a new header or factory style manifold, the muffler and side exit exhaust is new. The choke could use an adjustment for cold climates. The transmission and clutch are solid. Rest of the drivetrain is good. The brakes feel great, the tires are worn and will need replaced. The factory 15 inch wheels and GMC hubcaps have a cool look and are in good shape. -Body/interior details: Overall this truck is a great foundation to a daily driver or a restoration project. It runs and drives well but will require work/renovation like any older unrestored vehicle. I will describe work it will need if you have any questions ask and i can get all the information you need. I have detailed pictures/videos of the entire body/undercarriage. It has rust on both rocker panels, cab corners, some minor rust on the drivers floor, behind the rear tires but not into the box hardly. It has rust in the bed on the floor near the tailgate and a small spot on the hood. That is the extent of it, i don't think of this as a "rusty" truck it simply needs some basic metal work, rocker panels, cab corners. The frame, mounting points, suspension parts, and other body parts are very solid. The only body filler the truck has is on the hood where a spot was repaired. The hood will need replaced, it folded in the middle like most early GM square body trucks earlier in its life, it was repaired and is usable but its flimsy. The speedometer cable needs replaced, the seat is torn as shown in the pictures, the windshield has several cracks the mirror will be included in the glove box. The gauge cluster plastic is faded but all other gauges work well. It needs a heater control knob, turn signal lever and passenger side window crank, the dash is in fair shape. The windshield wipers, exterior lighting and heater work well. -Conclusion: I've enjoyed owning this pickup its been a fun driver and I've received lots of complements on it. There's not a ton of unmodified short box 2 wd 1973-1987 C-15/C-10's around. I hope the next owner appreciates the truck. My goal with this auction is to send the truck to the right next owner.
