Here we have for sale my extremely rare BMW E34 525IX.If you saw my previous listing the car was offered for sale still needing the repairs rather than me working through the issues like I have done now as it has mot till 24/10/2022These cars are rarer than m3's m5's looking at howmanyleft 33 are sorn and 6 on the road, so 39 525is se automatic are in the uk.I bought it as I always lusted after the 4x4 model thinking it would be the perfect winter car driving through the snow however being a touch realistic ive got a lot of projects on and id rather focus my time on the others. Its a 2 owner from new car (me excluded) I have all the handbooks and service book including the original salesman card and keyring from the garage it was purchased at, to add to the providence of the car I managed to find all the original 1992 brochures for the E34 including the price list.As you would expect of a car of this age and rarity it has had a few repairs, I focused on getting the car on the road rather than an endless restoration! I sourced repair floor pans from a E34 specialists and have had them welded in, a few other smalls repairs were done to get it to a mot standard. The arches have been rust treated and touched in, the main section of the arch is solid it will just require paint to make good. There is a small perforation on the passenger side lower arch, again an easy enough repair as it is a small panel. The underside has been protected with waxoyl to keep the rot at bay. There are a few areas on the bottoms of the doors which will need attention, again these have been treated and touched in (none perforated). The split tailgate works perfectly on the hatch opener, the switch for the main boot can be temperamental but does always openThe bonnet needs aligning to make perfect as the front edge lets its down, front bumper has been repainted at some point. The main body polished up well however will need a good few goings over to keep the shine, local paint repairs are needed rather than a whole repaint.from decoding the vin the car has the following:S404 double roof (needs freeing off, it makes the right noises but seems to be stuck)S411 front and rear elec windows one touch down all worksS413 luggage compartment netS428 warning triangle and first ad kitS430 interior outside mirror with auto dip (works and is very cool)S459 seat adjusment electric with memoryS472 armrest drivers and passenger (drivers has worn)S488 Lumbar support driver and passngerS489 Lumbar support electricS676 Hifi speaker system (has newer radio but sounds good)S687 Radio preparationS500 Headlight washer system intensive cleaning (bumper has been changed however the washer jets are still available to retrofit)S520 fog lights (all working)S534 automatic air conditioning (heats fine I would imagine it needs recharging in correct refrigerant)S540 cruise control (works well)S553 Onboard computer (all works)S564 interior light packageS571 reinforced power supplyS219 leather covered sports steering wheel Mtec 2S227 sport suspension+low slung+ride height control (sls has a slight weep on an oring)S245 steering wheel elec adjust (all works)S289 bmw light alloy wheel (including fifth spare alloy)S320 deleted model letteringS354 green tinted windscreen (still has this screen)S385 roof rack systemStandard catalytic converters present (these are huge money and most have been robbed)standard exhaust (slight rattle when cold but goes away when hot)Pitman joints have been replaced, lower arms did not have any play in them at all, if you know anything about these cars the lower arms are impossible to get hold of, the rest of the suspension isn't too bad for attainability. When I got the car it didn't move and was in a sorry state, since then I overhauled the gearbox changed the filter and refilled with fresh fluid, it now drives beautifully as you would expect a BMW automatic to, does have a minor leak as per the mot advisory. The only other advisory was the rear beam bushes having some play in them, thankfully these are a standard E34 part rather than ix specific. The 4x4 system had warning lights on and a replacement ecu sorted that out with the abs and 4x4 light coming on with ignition then turn off as soon as the engine starts.Mechanically the car drives really nicely, the engine sounds smooth with no noises and pulls well, it will be fully serviced this weekend and as stated above the gearbox and transfer box fluids have all been changed. With a specialist car like this inspection is a must and is welcome, cars like this are getting very thin on the ground which can be a useable rolling restoration yet ooze 90's nostalgia Please ask lots of questions rather than just submitting a number offer as the car did previously sell but no contact from the buyer hence me doing the work to get it legal and now relisting.07736 154837
