Selling as my priorities have changed, moved home earlier this year and the truck was in storage for several months, now that I have it back I've realised that I just don't have the time or the money to do it justice.  Finished this could be a high end truck worth considerably more than what I'm asking for, and what it'll take to get it there.

Purchased back in late 2018 via a good friend in California, the truck is UK registered, I have a V5 in my name, and I am the only registered keeper in the UK.  Has the original VIN tag denoting year, model, engine (long gone), production site and build sequence number. The big rear window cab option is one of only 5,000 F-100s built in 1956 out of the San Jose factory in California.. This has never been officially confirmed by Ford, and conversion kits can be bought these days to make a stock cab into a big rear window - a welding job for the brave! .

Running gear/Suspension

Engine is a 1968 429 big block Ford, 385 series, running Edelbrock hi-rise manifold and twin 4 barrel carbs, otherwise believed to be a stock engine with some billet alloy parts, no oil leaks. Not long had all new spark plugs, leads and distributor cap/rotor arm. Starts up and runs fine with current coil/distributor setup. Even after several months in storage it fired right up, has a manual choke that works great.

Transmission is an automatic 3 speed C6, with a brand new Lokar shifter that makes the shift position in the cab a breeze and very easy, very small amount of transmission oil on the floor this week, oil sump gasket no doubt and no big deal for these old units.

Front end - the clip was welded in from a late 60s Ford Gran Torino giving independent suspension, has power disc brakes and  power steering. The control arms have new bushings, in fact most of the bushings have been replaced throughout since I've owned-it.  It sits low at the front.

Rear end is a stock 9 inch Ford. The rear axle has been flipped so it sits above the springs, with new shorter shocks.  The axle U bolt brackets were re-positioned so allowing for the axle to align correctly with the transmission.  The truck sits at a nice height but the current exhaust system, that terminates just behind the cab, is too low and needs to be redesigned from the manifold back.

Brake system seems fine but I would encourage the new owner to strip the rear drum brakes down and inspect/replace the shoes and cylinders, the brake booster (located under the cab beneath drivers side) needs to be bled and lines checked for leaks. I have a replacement set of new shoes and rear slave cylinders that'll go with the truck.  Front discs are fine as are the pads.

Wheels are all brand new Detroit Steels, 18s up front, 20s at the back, all wrapped in brand new rubber, in my opinion they compliment the truck, some may prefer shiny alloys … I also have a full set of steel chrome beauty trim rings that'll go with the the truck too. It's all about personal taste. When I bought the truck it was the vivid metallic blue you see on the dash and the wheels, a bit over the top, but I've left that those parts blue as a mark of respect to the gentleman who built the truck and sadly died, his name plaque is also on the firewall…..

Body work

The truck is in great shape for 65 years old, underneath is super clean and there is little or no rust. The hood, running boards and rear fenders (3 inches wider than stock) are all fibreglass but very good quality, you can stand on the running boards and the tilt hood is heavy! Paintwork is a mix of black primer and satin black, I'll give the new owner enough paint to finish it in satin black and clear coat.  The doors have been fitted with Altman latches that are a lot safer than the originals, so the doors won't fly open going round a corner….. expensive but worth it I figure!  Tailgate is good, I have latches for it, only side on at the moment.

Glass is all good, all mouldings will be supplied if not fitted, ie for the doors.

Bed needs wood fitting out but all of the stainless steel strips come along with original bolts.

Electrics

Basically it's all there and works, all lights are supplied and wiring either in place or provided, have new rear light clusters, the electric one piece windows have proven a little troublesome but do work. The gauge cluster is a digital display version, seems to work ok, fitted by the guy who built and carried out all the modifications in the US.

====================

You need to see this truck to appreciate the work that's gone into it, the price may seem high for an unfinished project but for someone who knows their way around these its not a huge amount of work, and will stand out in the crowd.

Thanks for looking, I'm not interested in swaps, part exchanges or silly offers.

No dreamers thank you, test pilots can sit this one out too. If you don't have the cash, please don't waste my time, or yours.  Message me if genuinely interested, thanks.
