JUST TO say. apologies to all bidders but I had so many people asking for better photos that I took the ad off about 5 mins ago and am now re-listing with today's photos. I have just taken this lovely old girl on a 35-mile tour of the Yorkshire Dales and she performed superbly with great oil pressure showing on the period dashboard clock!     BEFORE we go any further. let us first establish that this is a GENUINE FACTORY Morris Minor Convertible and not one of the vast majority of chop-tops that we all see on the circuit and in the classic car marketplace.

She is a 1959 model - I always thought the pre-60s Moggies had more individual styling than the later models - and has arrived fresh from its loving home of the past 35 years! She is Dove Grey with a stunning red hood and is ready for her new owners. She drives beautifully and is really perky on the open road. These late 50s examples come with such delightful touches as the superb spoked steering wheel. white speedo. smaller rear lights. "clap hands" windscreen wipers etc. (I have an excellent original spoked wheel here which I will fit prior to sale!).
Before she spent all that time with her last owners. she stayed with the same owner from new and has lived in Devon all her life!

In recent years she has had a new water pump. renewed braking system. car serviced. new exhaust. new battery and a new petrol pump. In other words. as a car that has always been used albeit sparingly. she has always received the on-going attention she deserves. It's quite remarkable in this day age that a classic car should remain in the same family for so long. and so whoever buys her will be able to rest safe in the knowledge that she has always taken pride of place. Her front seats are black and not red as they should be. but anyone can remedy that quite easily. Her body and paintwork is presentable with only the odd bits and pieces here and there. In other words. she is pretty to the eye. most solid but with plenty of patina and not "done up like a dog's dinner" for the show grounds!

We all probably know the prices that Minor Convertibles are commanding now - and as a general rule of thumb you can expect the original factory drop heads such as this fine old girl to be worth twice as much as a converted saloon!  This is a fine. proud old 50s Moggie looking for  new home. She is not restoration project. nor is she some "barn find" recently dragged out and fired up. She wears her coat of great respectability as you would expect of a classic car whose past 35 years have been spent more as a family pet than a vehicle.

She is really responsive on the road (she is a correct spec 948cc remember) and does not shake. rattle and roll like a lot of chop-tops tend to do! Her original engine was de-coked not so long ago (There's an old phrase for you!) and she drive and idles beautifully. Her cosmetic faults are mainly down to a tiny bit on the bottom of the nearside door (typical Moggie. but nowhere near as bad as most). some bits down the A post of the wing on the same side and a little bit on the bottom corner of the boot lid. I consider all these "minor" bits on an un-restored car to be perfectly within the bounds of "diy classic car work" and they do not detract from the overall prettiness of a 1959 Minor drop head.
Yes. she also comes with her original registration too. and it's a nice one at that! But it will remain with the car as long as she is in my keep. This is an ideal opportunity to re-home a delightful old Moggie just in time for Christmas. Give me a call on 07595 020282 (Martin). I can also assist with delivery if required. Thanks for reading.   Payment in full to be received within 3 days of auction ending please.
