BMW e 3 - 3.0 S - Automatic (1972)
The 1972 BMW e 3 3.0 was arguably at the time the fastest 4 door car in the world. In fact it was quicker and said to handle much better than the more famous BMW e 9 coupe due to being 50 kg lighter and a better overall balance vehicle.
I'd consider this right hand delivered vehicle to be extremely rare I would imagine there would only be a few of these cars remaining in Australia, a recent search completed on howmanyleft.co.uk displayed only 9 licensed BMW 3.0 s and 20 licensed BMW 3.0 si reaming in the UK.
This is an idea entry restoration project for the BMW enthusiasts looking to preserve history without the e 9 price tag, the e 9's generally sell between $150 - $250 k pending the condition, model and history.
Fully restored the e 3's are now fetching $60 k+, and if you're about performance over design then you'll happy to know you can leave the $150 k+ e 9's in your rear-view.
This car is a restoration project car that is 99.9% complete with just the rear exhaust muffler section missing which could be easily fabricated to standard spec. What's great about these old BMW projects is all perishable parts are still available via online stores in Germany, such as rubbers, breaks, nuts and bolt packages, drive shaft kits and they are very easy to work on. In addition the old BMW cars have a great global network of enthusiasts with forums and Facebook groups to assist with parts and general guidance.
The car has been in storage since 1989. The previous owner started restoring it and has rubbed the body back for a respray and filled some dint's so it currently looks very undesirable.
The image displayed in this add is of a similar model and same factory paint colour. The car was running when parked up and would not take much to get running again, it needs basic servicing and mechanical work, nothing major.
