Bold. Innovative. Ambitious. Paradoxical. Star-crossed. Many words can describe the Bricklin SV-1. The machine was to propel Malcolm Bricklin's fledgling car company to the forefront of the American  sports car market. Penned by noted designer Herb Grasse. It's styling was as striking as anything on the road when it debuted in 1975 and Bricklin was determined to provide a vehicle that was as revolutionary inside as out. In addition to the traditional sports car priorities of performance and style. Bricklin ambitiously chose to emphasize safety and affordability as well - promising a car that could do everything well. This 1975 Bricklin SV-1 with 46,332 original miles is finished in Safety White over Phoenix Brown interior and powered by a 351ci Windsor V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. The car features gullwing doors, an AM/FM stereo, air conditioning and energy-absorbing bumpers. The fiberglass body is finished with a bonded acrylic coating offered in one of five “safety” colors, with this car finished in white with black lower panels. With only 2100 SV-1s built, "rare" is an understatement. According to Hagerty Classic Car Insurance, prices range between $9,400 and $44,600. Whether you call it a sports car, muscle car, or "Safety Vehicle," the Bricklin SV-1 is remarkably fun to drive, and even more fun to look at. And although the company is long gone, after driving one, I'd say this car's legacy is very... safe.
