Porsche 911 SWB (1966) Restoration project - MOST PARTS TO FINISH INCLUDED for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.15) based on 56 votes

Hello, I am selling my 911 SWB project

The first generation of the Porsche 911 was made between 1965 and 1968 and were called the short wheel base models (SWB). They are obviously very collectable and my one came off the production line in October 1966. Obviously being a rare and very collectable car it will continue to rise in value so is a great investment.

If you are not too familiar with the SWB cars type the following into You Tube where Harry Metcalfe (the founder of EVO magazine) takes one for a drive and gives an explanation in the process:

1965 911 SWB by Sports Purpose. Is this £350,000 Porsche the purest driving 911 of them all?-----------------------

I've owned this Porsche for 2 years. It was imported from USA in 2007 so its LHD – all NOVA Import duties paid (with papers). I have the USA title for it which includes the VIN

The good thing about it being totally stripped down is that you can see exactly what needs doing (nothing is hidden) and you can restore it to whatever spec you want. Further good news is that very little work needs to be done on the front area (from the firewall forward as this is pretty much finished)

The VIN/chassis number is stamped correctly on in the front, on the door hinge post and is also handwritten on top of the dashboard (this is what Porsche did on the early cars so that the dash board could be matched to the correct chassis).

It comes with pretty much all of the parts to finish as follows

Engine & Gearbox

The correct gearbox is included in the sale

There is no engine present (I was going to buy a more powerful one than the standard 2.0L). Engines are pretty easy to source.

Parts that are present

I have pretty much all most of the parts to complete the restoration, including

All 5 of the rare Uranium dials (speedo/Rev counter etc)

Steel wheels

Suspension parts

Steering wheel

Steering rack

Front wings (good condition)

Bonnet (needs work)

Engine lid (good condition)

Doors (one is in very good condition the other needs the bottom edge tidying)

Seats

Fuel tank (good condition)

Rear window

Door windows/Door quarter lights

Rear side windows and latches

Inner door handles/knobs and buttons

Lights/Indicators/Interior lights

Doors/Door handles/Arm rests/window mechanisms

Dash cover

Chrome trim

All of the Glass except the front windscreen

Rear bumper/Slam panel

The list goes on and on and there are about 6 good size storage tubs of parts

Parts I know you will you will need

Front bumper (fairly easy to find)

Front windscreen (very easy to find)

There may also be some other bits and bobs but as I said the large majority of parts are present

I'm also included new body panels in the sale. (I've spent well over £2500 on panels some have been fitted the others are included in the sale -see pictures)

Floor Pan

Rear torsion bar panels

Parcel shelf

Door hinge (A Post)

Heat exchanger

Slam panel

Side Panel

Inner and out sill

Other

There will be more which I have forgotten about but everything I have will included in the sale at no extra cost

The future

Obviously there is fair amount of work to be done to this Porsche but not perhaps as much as you might think. For example, the roof and roof gutters are excellent and as I said the from section and the right hand side floor pan is measured up ready for installation.

Classic Porsche continue to rise in value and a freshly restored one of these early 911 SWB's is between £70K and £120K depending on the quality of the restoration. Who knows what they will be worth in 5 years time.

So at £26,500 including all the parts this is a great opportunity for someone.

Sensible people only please.

I'm happy to answer any questions

Rich
