For those who are not aware of the Ultima model, this Beetle was the very last batch ever built. After this it all ended. Millions upon millions built and then finally these as a celebration of one the most iconic machines of all time. To signify this historic occasion VW ran a final series of T1's at their Mexican Puebla plant. These machines had a few interesting goodies like colour coded wheels with white walls tyres, a 50's style bonnet nose badge, CD player with 4 speakers, chrome bumpers/headlamp rings/hub caps and tinted glass. So about this actual car.  It was imported through Beetles UK new in 2004 and ordered RHD with leather interior. This car has only 39k original miles and is unrestored. It comes with the original wallet/books/service invoices to confirm its proper maintenance schedule. Also comes with its 2 x original Huf keys which operate the decklid, doors and ignition and also the factory VW immobiliser fob which prevents theft.  Also included is the original bill of sale and invoice paperwork. I also have a thick history file setting out its maintenance history. These late Bugs have a much more refined and efficient modern catalysed injection system but are still the ubiquitous flat 4 air cooled power unit. Better MPG too. So you get all the pure torsion bar flat screen DNA of Beetle without the aggravation. Being a 1600i this Beetle is pretty quick and idles/runs perfectly. The running gear is outstanding and and the motor obviously has no end float or nasty noises/smoke. Likewise the gearbox and steering are top notch. The car has a recent set of the corre ct Ultim a tyres and I have just replaced the front callipers as the pistons were getting a bit sticky. This is definitely the best Beetle I have driven. A really solid ride with that lovely hewn from granite mechanical feel. The areas where Beetles always rust out on 60's/70's UK cars are totally sound. Rear quarters, sills, battery tray, spare wheel well (spare is unused), bumper hangers, the inner sill corners under the seat etc etc are solid.  The alternative to this car is a 15 owner, welded up restored 70's heap with no real history, lots of skulduggery and filler to make the repairs good, the wrong engine, three different keys, loads of inferior pattern parts and a replacement interior that never fits or looks right. There is a couple of minor dents on the body of this one but as the paint is original I thought it better to leave as be. I suspect a mobile dent removal guy can sort them for a nominal fee. This is a collectors car and I strongly suspect that the handful of other Ultima's in the UK are all super low mile investment machines which will be at least twice the price of this one. This Bug can be used and enjoyed with minimal outlay. All the fun of a classic Beetle (plus classic insurance) without the drawbacks. If you want a "special" car then perhaps this Bug fits the bill. When this car goes I suspect you'll not get another chance to own a real piece motoring of history. Here is a link for the Ultima series https://k-ue.de/index.php/men-beetle/men-ueThe car is garaged in London W11.
