Classic mini clubman estate van 1275 mg metro engine 1978 tax and mot exempt for sale
Current customer rating:
Mini clubman estate van 1275 mg metro engine Tax and MOT exempt This car was advertised by me earlier in the year , but flipping annoyingly on day of collection it developed a gasket leak , which turned out to be the water pump gasket. So it now comes with a brand new water pump and gasket and i thought while it was apart i would upgrade the radiator to a Fletcher alloy Unfortunately due to covid and job changes and other projects (well my wife has other projects i just do as im told) and all that malarky,
I have decided to let my clubbie go as it just doesnt get used the way it should be.
Its a shame as it is a real headturner and creates lots of controversy as to whether it should be a van or not.
Ive owned it for 18 months and have done a lot of work to it
It is extremely reliable its never let me down (Apart from gasket-gate), its now a good uasable little car , and because its not perfect you dont feel as if you have to park the other side of the car park just incase some *#*¥ decides to very kindly scratch it for you with his oversized car that doesnt actually fit in the space.
A new to me 1275 mg metro engine has been fitted as the engine it came with was only fit for the bin.
Both sills have been done aswell as other little bits underneath , so is strong as an ox in that department
A new st 400 exhaust has been fitted.
New wheels and tyres from jbw have been put on
Obviously ive converted to a van , and i had the sides painted at the same time , i still have the window frames and glass so should you wish to turn it back to an estate its all there ,and these would go with the car.
The bumpers are fibreglass , but i do have the original chrome ones which would go with the car .
The visor is fibreglass
The rear doors are fibreglass , so no rust issues there ,with a new door lock and key
The door mirrors are carbon look f 1 style which do give you a very good rear view
I have a chin spoiler which has also been colourcoded to go with the car
The front seats are genuine recaros , which do have a couple of holes , but nothing life threatening , front seatbelts and still has the rear seats.
I have fitted a stereo and made 2 speaker boxes which sit under the seat and holds 6 x 9 speakers
A centre connsole is also fitted its got disc brakes on the front , drums on the back gaz shocks all round and as i said a new radiator and water pump (oh and the new flipping gasket) i have boarded and carpeted out the back so this now looks really tidy.
The car is not perfect , and i'm not claiming it is
For example ,
The rev counter doesnt work , ive not tried to fix it so it could be an easy fix.
The top dash rail has a 2 inch split in the plastic
The paint on the front grill is flaking a bit
The speedo runs about 10 mph out
The indicator dash lights work most of the time , but this has no effect on the indicators on the outside they work perfectly
The roof could really do with a blowover , but its one of those things i will get round to eventually .
HUGE file of paperwork.
Its just bits and pieces and i would say with a small amount of tlc it wouldnt take much to finish it and make it perfect if you want , but for me its got that blend of looks nice but looks used ,
I realise its not everybodys cup of tea , i'm sure ive forgotten something ,
So any questions or for more pics dont hesitate to ask 7
Cheers for looking Mick
