Rover P5B Coupe for sale
Current customer rating:
I purchased this car 6 months ago after searching high and low for a genuine car with a good body. My plans have now changed and the only miles it has travelled since I purchased it in Kent is to the garage and back for its MOT last week which it passed without a problem.
The previous engineer owner purchased the car in 1994 and gave the body and mechanics a complete overhaul and upgrade. The engine was overhauled and fitted with SD1 Vitesse cylinder heads and oil pump along with the later HIF 6 SU carbs. A 5 speed manual SD1 gearbox was also fitted. Additions since include a stainless steel exhaust and electronic ignition.
The body had any rust removed. repaired PROPERLY. and repainted. The car is still rust free and the MOT inspector described the underside as ‘like new' at the test a week ago.
A full photographic record comes with the car together with a mass of history including the original pre-delivery receipt and early service records. The previous owner cherished the car and sold it because of his age (80yrs). e only used the car occasionally. mainly taking it to local car shows; it was not taken out in the rain and has always been garaged.
This is the car that Rover should have made. The extra power the cylinder heads provide together with the 5 speed box gives far better economy and better flexibility. I drove it home to Somerset from Kent and really enjoyed the drive. She will cruise at motorway speed and beyond. Oil pressure is good. the temperature stays on the mark and the brakes are excellent.
The leather and carpets are tired but without tears or stains. the words ‘desirable patina' would be used by a dealer.
The car has a webasto sunroof which does not leak. a push button radio. the original tool set. and is sold with a load of spares. This is not a concours car but probably the most genuine car available today that is sound both bodily and mechanically. everything works and is ready to go anywhere. I am happy to answer any questions you may have and send close up photos of any parts of the car you require.
I was going to make a few changes to the car and use it for long distance endurance rallies (which is why I searched for a solid car without rust) but plans have changed. and I am now selling my collection

Comments and questions to the seller:
from Nigel Smethills, dated 07 april 2020Hi, Could this car be used on a day to day basis travelling to and from work. Does it cost a lot to maintain. Do you have to know a bit about working on cars to own it. I really like the car but am worried `i may not b able to maintain it or the expense of running it. Kind Regards Nigel
