- I've owned her for nearly 10 years.

- Previously owned by the the Vice Chancellor for University of Texas at Austin; a man who has an impressive car collection, and I was fortunate to be able to buy one of his gems.

- I took her with me to Stuttgart, Germany where she was originally built, joined the R107 club for 5 years and brought it back with me when I returned stateside.

- Includes German R107 Technical manuals given only to Stuttgart Mercedes club members.

- Also included new tires, original maintenance receipts and a new soft top that's only been used once.

The Germans have 2 nicknames for this generation of the SL:

1. The Panzerwagon. Because Mercedes engineers built this gem like a freakin' Tank. Except that you can drive a thousand miles with the top down in one day and NOT be sore and rattled with a broken back.

2. The Bobby Ewing car. Because it was the iconic car of choice in the Classic TV series “Dallas.” Millennials, go google it and prepare to be sucked into the greatest TV drama series in history.

The 107 chassis SLs are icons of an era and embodies the saying, “they don't build them like this anymore." Everything about this machine is solid, not like the flimsy cheap plastic junk you find in so-called cars today. Even the doors look and feel like something out of a bomb proof vault and gives you a very satisfying “thunk” when you close them. Every time I take her out, I feel like I'm in my own personal time machine. Doc Brown didn't need a Delorean; he should have just bought an SL.

You should know that I am reluctant to sell this car. I've owned it now for nearly 10 years and every time I check, it keeps increasing in value. I only drive it on the occasional weekend with the Mercedes club. But I'm PCS'ing back to Germany and my wife says we have too many toys. Which is a not true...you can never have too many toys.

So if you want to see my baby, you gotta show up with a bag full of cash when my wife is around so she knows I'm really putting it out there. Yeah, you can try to bargain with me on the price, but just know I'll probably counter with a $1000 increase and laugh like a maniac as I drive away letting you mournfully take in the last glimpse of your chance to own a legend.

Finished in elegant and highly desired 040- Black (Schwarz) with all an original and stunning 274- Light Brown leather interior, this well kept, low mileage Mercedes Benz 560SL is equipped with a 5.6L fuel-injected aluminum V8 engine producing 227hp and 279 ft lbs of torque. There are some minor paint stuff which I'll point out on viewing. Options include a 4-speed automatic transmission, matching auxiliary hard top and original Black soft convertible top.
