NO RESERVE       UNIQUE OPPERTUNITY  TO BUY A FERRARI 308 GTS REPLICA

What you are bidding on is probably the only unfinished "new" survivor of the very ambitious "Quadriga" project.   The Quadriga was the mythical chariot of the gods and in the late 80's early 90's Performance Automobile Construction Engineers P. A. C. E set up shop in Lancaster to sell what was a very well designed and engineered Ferrari 308 replica using many Lancia sports car components in conjunction with their own monocoque centre chassis with front and rear space frames and a top quality fibreglass body. The original 308 was produced by Ferrari in glass fibre for a couple of years and unlike the out of proportion panels that are commonly bonded onto cheap Toyota MR2's and Pontiac Fiero's kits. the Quadrigra was designed over a 2 year period to be proper car and a far more authentic recreation of a 308 GTB.   The sale price needed for such quality caused the demise of the company after only a few years trading.   I believe another company subsequently changed and remarketed the car cheaper but this is a original Quadriga.

This particular example was bought by a Mr Shepherd who was a engineer from Luton. The bill of sale shows he paid £7761. 00!! in 1991 for a chassis and a body kit and wiring loom and fuel tanks; which was a lot of money back then. He seemed to be quite a perfectionist as there are lots of engineers drawings for various parts he made or upgraded.  There is also the receipt for his donor Supercharged Lancia Volumex which yielded enough chassis and mechanical and system components for the Lancia V5 and registration number to be used as per the rules back then.   There is a box full of bills for various components including correct pattern alloy wheels as used by Ferrari on some 308's and various badges and lights and door handles etc as used on Ferraris.

GOOD STUFF    The car is between 80 to 90% finished and starts and runs and sounds superb. The engine and all parts were from a 32. 00 mile car with paperwork to verify and everything was checked and refurbished or overhauled or rebuilt before fitting. There are lots of bills for new components and the work on the car is to a high standard. The car has correct style alloy wheels and a targa roof as well as all the right badges and lights etc.  There are 3 boxes of  bits and odds and ends some of which may be useful for the completion. There is a large file of drawings and receipts and reference material and period magazine articles and even a sales brochure!

With prices of top 308 GTS cars now approaching £50. 00 and climbing this has to be a good option with decent performance and authentic looks.

BAD STUFF  The car is unfinished and needs work.   The body has been rubbed and primed but has never been painted in top coat. nbsp;as that needs doing after everything else is fully sorted. The interior has nice looking bucket seats in correct cream colour but they will need fitting properly after the car gets carpeted and you make and fit interior door trim panels as I don't see any.   The door glasses are cracked and there is no windscreen and the cheapest Ferrari one I have found is circa £500. There is a rear screen in Perspex. I see a wiper motor in one of the parts boxes but it will need fitting up as will a door lock and latch. The dash is all in and wired but I would want to have Ferrari emblem transfers put on the clocks and instruments and get a correct style steering wheel with prancing horse horn push and also make a polished alloy type slot gate for the gear change so the cabin would look as Ferrari like as possible.   There are lots of little jobs to do but all and all it looks like a most interesting and rewarding winter project.
