Current customer rating:
Offered for sale by Barons Classic Car Auctioneers at auction on Friday 24 th September at Sandown Park Racecourse, Esher, KT 10 9 AJ
The Mk 2 Jaguar was introduced in 1959. It came with a 2.4, 3.4 or 3.8 litre XK engine. The car was re-engineered above the waistline, slender front pillars allowed a wider windscreen and the rear window almost wrapped around to the enlarged side windows. The radiator grille was larger, side, tail and fog lamps repositioned. Inside a new heating system was fitted. There was an improved instrument layout that became standard for all Jaguar cars until the XJ Series II. From its introduction the Jaguar Mk II developed a strong following in many walks of life. With wonderful styling and a race-bred engine and four-wheel disc brakes, the ability to carry five passengers at great speed, the car proved to be a great success.
This example is a 1967 Jaguar Mk II 240 all-synchromesh manual with overdrive, the 89 th 240 RHD built. It has been in the vendor's family since 2005, and was restored by his father who loved restoring classic cars, including another Jaguar Mk II and an Austin 10 that were both sold through Barons. The vendor says that the bodywork is in good condition, and the interior, which has the rare and desirable Reutter reclining front seats, is finished in leather, and in very good condition. The wire wheels and the chrome work is also said to be in very good condition. The car is also fitted with a stainless-steel exhaust.
The car runs well and the vendor recently changed the clutch slave cylinder. The car comes with a spare wire wheel and a cover.
Please note, we have a further 5 Jaguar Mark 2 s for sale. Please see our website barons-auctions.com
Please note that the Classified Advert price is the lower Auction Estimate, and not a Buy It Now Price. The car will not be sold prior to the auction.
