This car is a really lovely example of a desirable. late. long wheelbase Silver Wraith. with the benefit of automatic transmission and the 4. 9 litre engine. Unusually. it is fitted with R 100 headlamps. rather than the faired in 7” units normally fitted to the later models. The whole car is delightfully correct. in lovely condition throughout. and nicely finished in tasteful and appealing Velvet Green. with original beige leather. gorgeous wood and cabinetry. excellent headlining and carpets. with long-pile over rugs in the rear. For the majority of its life. the car has been with just two owners. and the recorded mileage of 87. 00 is very probably correct. Just fitted with a new set of Dunlop tyres. running sweetly. driving nicely and offered newly Mo T tested.

Snippets: Dowsett's Eloping Daughter.
The first owner of ELW 79 was Harry Dowsett (1907/96). industrialist & shipbuilder of Lincolnshire.
In 1959 his daughter Katherine (then aged 20) eloped to Scotland with a London Playboy by the name of Edward Langley.
Harry Dowsett followed them but Katherine refused to come home with him. Harry managed to obtain a High Court Order prohibiting the marriage & eventually the couple did return to Cambridge where Katherine agreed to go home with her father.
Langley was later imprisoned for Contempt of Court & Katherine sent on a tour of Africa & New Zealand where she met her future husband Major M. Barclay of Hanworth Hall.
In 1977 Harry was once again in the headlines when whilst at home at Greatford Hall after a drinking bout he mistook his chauffeur-valet for a burglar and shot him!! He was forgiven by his chauffeur but the courts cancelled his shotgun & firearms certificates. fined him a £1. 00 and gave him a suspended sentence! Greatford Hall was home to Dr.
Francis Willis. famous for curing George III of his madness in 1788 the Doctor lived in & maintained a private asylum at Greatford Hall.
