1979 MGB LE, US Export / LHDOwned by me for thirty years in the US and UK. Bodywork and interior restored in NY and V8 conversion undertaken in the UK. Overseas work assignments meant long periods of professional storage in addition to lengthy period garaged for the V8 conversion.Rebuilt Rover P6 V8 engine with SD1 Vitesse heads; 15,000 since rebuild. Offenhauser manifold, Holley carb, Rover SD1 5-Spd gearbox, V8 prop & differential ratio, 4-pot front calipers, oil cooler, custom bonnet in the MGC-style with added lumps & bumps! The car is a proven tourer and with its LHD is a natural on continental roads. After its US restoration its first trip was NY to Vermont for the British Invasion classics show. Back in the UK (as an 1800cc) it has done Edinburgh/Athens roundtrip (ferry Italy/Greece), as a V8 - France (Calais-Dijon-Aix/Provence-Bordeaux-Le Mans-Calais), NC500 and numerous roundtrips Edinburgh/London. Most recently in very hot conditions we did 500+ miles touring the SW Scottish coast without any overheating issues. Touring has never been interrupted by breakdown.26/8: another trip yesterday with hood down on a very hot day in the West of Scotland; Edinburgh-Glasgow-Loch Lomond-Crianlarich-Oban / Oban-Inveraray-“Rest & Be Thankful”-Loch Lomond-Glasgow-Edinburgh. (290 miles trouble-free). It is not a show car to be dusted off occasionally and, bought for touring, will require dedication to keep it in good mechanical form and eye-catching condition. The US LE's were all painted black and for its restoration we chose to change it to Dark British Racing Green. The engine bay remains in black liberally protected by waxoil. The interior is leather in MGOC Biscuit whilst the American-made hood is light tan. The corner windows of the hood have cracked with age but I have been reluctant to replace the distinctive tan colour which is still very presentable after some 20+ years.  A black hardtop is included but will require to be collected separately from a storage location; requires rear brackets to be fitted but otherwise very sound condition.Happy to answer all questions about the car, its earlier restoration and its V8 conversion.
