1986 Austin Metro Mayfair in excellent condition through-out with a genuine 24,000 miles

This little metro has been cherished and well looked after. It was sold new by ES Jones of Dobshill (Chester) which at the time were an Austin/Rover and TVR main dealership, it was sold to an elderly lady owner who waited some time to take delivery of the special-order Mayfair, she kept the car for many years only using it sparingly and keeping it garaged which is why its lasted so long.

The interior is still like new with lovely comfy Mayfair seats and as new carpets with excellent headlining, all switches' knobs and buttons work as they should with some lovely High-End Mayfair only features like Central locking and Roof mounted digital clock that are only found in the Mayfair.

The bodywork is very good all-around and polishes up lovely with original Mayfair graphics and chrome handles etc., it's been Fully Re-painted a couple of years ago, but it's been done to a very good standard with only a few minor blemishes, but they are very minor.

The underside is as good as the top with subframes which are still excellent, I have many pictures of the underside.

The suspension has been pumped up to the correct height with a full suspension fluid flush, it's also had an oil and oil filter change using good quality oil and to cure a historic oil leak the gear linkage input shaft has had the upgraded seal kit so no more problems there. Its still on its very rare and original Correct TD Tyres which in metro circles are very sought after and the metro comes with four more spare tyres in the boot for the future.

The metro starts runs and drives well with good clutch and gearchange, good brakes with all electrics working as they should. I recently drove 50 miles on a classic run, and it was a pleasure and is very good on fuel, From the driver's seat it's like driving in the 1980`s

The engine is sweet and now very sought after 1275cc which are very tough and reliable and so easy to work on. Parts are very easy to obtain and very low cost, obviously this one is barely run in at 24,000 miles

To sum up the overall condition of the metro is very good for its 36 years of age and has to be one of the better examples of the proper A-Series Metro left in the UK. It's not concourse but I'm sure its capable of winning prizes at your local classic car show job. Very hard to find the more desirable 1275cc and its unheard of these days to find one with such low genuine miles it really is in great all-around condition.
