This is an Australian delivered W 115 complianced 02/75. It still has the original 'English Red' paintwork in good condition, although the boot warrants a repaint. The interior is a light cream MB-Tex vinyl, and the carpets, windows etc are all good. It has factory alloy wheels and good tyres.The 4 cyl diesel starts easily with excellent oil pressure. It has been a farmer's country car most of its life. The 5 digit odometer reads 18,500 km but would probably be 218,500 km. The 240 d engine has legendary fuel economy and a high mileage reputation. The floor mounted automatic transmission shifts properly. You can safely drive this home on a permit, or I will help organize professional transport interstate.This has a nice body in an attractive period colour. Nice interior and glass. Also, the engine is in terrific condition. The W 115 cars with vertical headlights and upright body style are gaining in collectability over the later W 123 which has a lower front aspect.This car is one of 5 Mercedes in a small collection that I am thinning out, so I can complete our family's 1959 220 S before I get too old. The 240 d is suitable for use as a club car or daily driver as long as you aren't in a big rush. Top speed is suppose to be about 140 kph it just takes awhile to get there ! Oddly enough, they are a relaxing car to drive.Sold as is, with 2 sets of rear window chrome trims (shown in boot photo).
