Launched by British Leyland in 1983 and remaining in production for another six years after Rover Group took over the ailing firm in 1988, the Maestro was never quite the success it was meant to be but it did get better as time went on.

The cooking Austin versions were initially beset with quality issues but the sporty MG variants were rather better received. The earliest MG Maestro was fitted with a 1.6-litre R-Series engine derived from the Austin Maxi and proved troublesome thanks to a hastily conceived twin-Weber carburettor set-up. The short-lived 1600 S-Series engine of 1984 was replaced by the 115bhp 2.0-litre O-Series fuel-injection engine from the Montego at the end of that year.

In one fell swoop, the MG Maestro was transformed. Capable and good to drive, the 2.0 EFi was one of the best hot hatches of its era, giving Austin Rover its first serious rival to the Golf GTi and the Escort XR3i. It could also run on unleaded fuel, unlike the earlier versions.

First registered in August 1989 this Maestro has the favoured 2.0 injection engine and was acquired for a private collection in 2013.

It came into the hands of its current owner last year and is now reluctantly being offered for sale. The book pack shows that it was supplied through Austin Rover themselves, although subsequent services took place at Hartwells in Oxford who had serviced it no fewer than 11 times by July 1996, at which point it had covered 46,601 miles. It has recently been fitted with a new battery and four new tyres, along with a complete brake overhaul. It comes with a V5C, many old MOTs and invoices, a handwritten log of mileages and service dates from past owners and also the current MOT which runs until July this year.

It is now indicating some 65,717 miles on the clock which is more than likely correct given the overall condition of the car and accompanying paperwork. One of only 170 such cars still UK registered, it is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.

Welcome to my listing for this stunning Morris A60 Half ton van. As you can see in the pictures this truly is a stunning van that's been mildly customized and kept very much in period. This van instantly puts a huge smile on your face when you start her up and take her down the road, a true talking point whether in a show or at the local shops and would make an ideal business advertising tool as these vans now are very rare and one of the prettiest looking vans of the 60s and 70s.

The van was owned and used by a BMC garage through the 70`s` well into the late 1980``s as a service van so was well kept and maintained before spending most of the 1990`s and 2000`s dry stored so it's had a fairly sheltered life.

The bodywork is excellent and was fully restored around 10 years ago but always dry stored and used in dry weather since, during its restoration all signs of rust were cut out and fresh steel welded in. It was fully repainted to a good standard, it was originally a slightly darker shade of red which is still evident in the engine bay, The chrome work is again excellent as are the spotlights and overriders.

The engine runs and sounds superb and starts easily with no smoke, it pulls well and easily keeps up with modern traffic, The gearbox is tight strong and smooth with a well set up column change and clutch. The brakes all work well as does the umbrella style hand brake

Excellent fully refurbished wheels with original chrome Morris trims and new tyres recently fitted all around (Correct commercial grade van tyres)

The interior is again custom made to a good standard, It's been fully carpeted including all the rear to a good standard with chrome trim plates, The rear has been fully lined with quality rubber matting to a good standard including the headlining carpeted with LED interior lights and fitted with a amp and speakers, The front cabin has very comfortable leather electric high back seats with new door cards and a great looking multi dial dash with all gauges and switches working fine, A good heater with hazard light switch upgrade... The lights have all been upgraded and work well with extra brake light and period fog lights added. There is a modern radio and dash mounted DVD player which are all fitted to an excellent standard but easily removed if you want to go back to standard.

There is so much to say about the van I could go on for ages, so viewing is highly recommended and welcomed.

To sum up this van is a true investment opportunity, and a chance to own a classic that truly stands out and will make any show better with-it in. This is a piece of car art that has been done to a high standard with a lot of love and care involved, a real talking point wherever you go!

There is a large number of spare parts included in the sale including a spare excellent engine, Complete gearbox, Rear Axle, Wheels, and loads more, literally thousands of pounds worth or rare good used spare parts that will help to keep the van going for many years

VIEWING HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND WELCOMED
