With its road-ready, powerful drivetrain and eye-catching but tasteful exterior, this 1966 Pontiac Tempest GTO Tribute is a fitting tribute to the high-octane, rubber melting version of the Pontiac model that became so closely associated with boulevard exploits over the years. It's capable of far more than just turning heads on the asphalt, and features some well-selected upgrades including a recently rebuilt 400 V8, a quick-shifting 4-speed gearbox, and a blazing Sunset Orange paint job. Take a closer look at this winner but do it fast, because there's no way this beauty stays with us that long...

Pontiac promoted the GTO from an option package on the Tempest to an entirely separate model the year this '66 debuted, and marked the occasion by giving it a lot more curves than its more slab-sided predecessors, as well as wider track. The Sunset Orange Metallic finish this specimen wears is a slick, deep color - noticeably darker than similar renderings of the shade, with just enough metallic flake to create a high-impact, magnetic look. It's not a bonafide trophy hunter, as this Poncho was built to drive, but the strong driver-quality finish will still get nothing but thumbs up when it's cruising down Main Street. Up front, the stacked headlights sit in bright chrome casings, bracketing a recessed black grille and a nice, level bumper just below. The hood scoop gives away the potential of a monster lurking underneath, although it's certainly not as obnoxious as some of the gaudy cowl hoods we see gracing so many restomods these days, and all that bright chrome trim that surrounds the glass and runs through the bottom side of the car and around the wheel arches really emphasizes this car's gorgeous lines. There's a reason the '66 Pontiac hardtop is widely considered to be one of the quintessential American muscle car masterpieces, and this great-looking driver does nothing to refute that opinion. All the requisite GTO badging was installed exactly where it's supposed to be, and even a Hurst badge made its way out back where the rear end is simply a menacing thing of beauty – with those scowling taillights and dual exhaust tips serving as a final reminder to any that tried to challenge this car and humbly lost.

The black vinyl interior offers just the right mood-elevating vintage driving environment to match the outside of the car. The front buckets and rear bench seat feature crisp covers that have yet to show much wear - you won't even find creasing on the front bolsters. A nice by-product of the Tempest's generous size is the space on hand. Invite your friends to join you on the road and they'll find no shortage of legroom in back. A woodgrain steering wheel sits on its column and just beyond it, the matching woodgrain instrument cluster holds a set of original gauges that are joined by a set of aftermarket counterparts monitoring fuel, oil pressure, voltage and engine temperature just below, as well as a sizable vacuum gauge that sits on the center console. Inside that very center console is where the party really starts, with a cue-ball top Hurst shifter managing the 4-speed manual below practically mocking you into slamming through some gears. The original AM radio still sits in the dash, but a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player is nearby to fill the cabin with sound via a well-placed array of speakers, and a full Vintage A/C unit was added to make the cabin much more comfortable. The trunk area in back offers plenty of room and is lined with gray carpeting on its floor and inner fenders for a nice, finished appearance.

This vintage Pontiac carries a powerful drivetrain that's fittingly inspired by the GTO's performance-centric identity. A 400 cubic inch V8 holds court in the engine compartment, rebuilt approximately 3,200 miles ago and armed with a new Holley 750CFM 4-barrel carb, aluminum aftermarket heads and an Edelbrock Performer intake that join a performance cam to give the powerplant a nice, lope - not enough to wreak havoc with its vacuum, but enough to let you know something special sits inside. It's a sharp-looking engine, too - its bronze-colored air cleaner and black, Pontiac-branded valve covers provide a nice contrast to the silver of the block as it pairs with a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission that spins a 3.73 limited-slip 'Safe-Track' rear end to provide a great "hands on" driving experience. A new aluminum radiator and electric fan have been added to the mix to keep engine temperatures down in more demanding driving conditions, as well as power 4-wheel power disc brakes to provide a level of dependable, fade-resistant stopping power that would be out of reach in original configuration. Smooth power steering and new air shocks makes navigating this classic muscle car a breeze as it cruises on its set of 17-inch American Racing Torque Thrust polished wheels wrapped with 245/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear Nitto performance tires.

Impressive road-readiness and ample power team with a freshened classic look to make this 1966 Pontiac Tempest GTO Tribute a "must see". Call today!

General Terms

Terms & Conditions

We recognize the need for complete transparency when buying/selling vehicles on eBay. That said, we did not build, modify, or have the luxury of personal ownership that would give us the advantage of knowing all unknown aspects of each vehicle. Transparency is king and we're happy to try and answer ALL questions our customers might have prior to purchasing. Additionally, we welcome and encourage independent inspections (see Inspection statement below).

FEES: A documentation fee of $199 will be added to the purchase price at the time of sale. Sale price does not include any Title, License, Registration, State or Local Taxes or Processing Fees. We recommend you familiarize yourself with your individual state's taxes, transfer, or additional fees.

AVAILABILITY: Please inquire prior to purchase to assure any advertised vehicle is not already sold. We advertise across multiple platforms where a vehicle can sell in a moment's notice. Vehicles may be sold prior to eBay listing end, and we reserve the right to end listings early or to cancel bids/offers solely at our discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.

CONTACT: Note that you may hear from us after to the sale, but if you are a winning bidder, click a Buy-It-Now, or we accept your eBay Offer, it is your responsibility to contact us within 24 hours.

INSPECTION: VERY IMPORTANT. If a buyer chooses to buy sight unseen (many of our buyers choose this option) the buyer accepts the vehicle AS-IS and understands we cannot address concerns post sale. For this reason, it's important all concerns are addressed prior to purchase. We make every effort to present accurate and reliable information, but use of this information is voluntary, and should only be deemed reliable after an independent review of its accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. It is the sole responsibility of the customer/buyer to verify the existence of options, accessories and the vehicle condition before time of sale.

PAYMENT: We require a non-refundable $500 deposit within 48 hours of winning or commitment to purchase. Full payment is required within 7 days of offer acceptance unless other arrangements are agreed to in writing. If deposit and/or full payment are not provided within said timeframe, all vehicles will be relisted and transaction will be considered void. For balance of payment we will accept bank wire transfer (preferred), cashier's check, or personal check (vehicle shipment will be delayed until check clears). We also offer vehicle financing, please inquire for details prior to making bids/offers. SHIPPING: We have access to a network of private and commercial carriers. Most of them can deliver the vehicle to your driveway and upon your schedule. We assume no responsibility for damages or delays incurred once a vehicle is in a shipper's custody. Buyers are welcomed to trailer vehicles home and we are happy to have everything ready to see you off with your new vehicle.

DRIVE IT HOME: If you plan to buy and drive home, please keep some things in mind. Anything is possible when it comes to a vehicle, especially a classic or antique one. We recommend transporting all vehicles to your home first, then driving it locally. Get to know the vehicle and its tendencies before embarking on a long-distance trip. If you choose to drive your new vehicle home, buyer accepts all responsibility as we are unable to control what may take place once it leaves our facility.

DOCUMENTS & VEHICLE TITLE: All purchase documents are sent immediately upon purchase. To avoid delays, we recommend returning any required documents within 24 hours of receipt. Please allow up to 30 days for vehicle titles. Usually titles are available sooner, we ask for the extra time in the event there are unforeseen circumstances.

VIN VERIFICATION: We photograph the primary VIN location of every vehicle and make sure that VIN exactly matches the vehicle's current title. Buyer agrees to hold seller harmless from any disputes arising from other hidden or secondary VINs present on the vehicle as seller only verifies the primary VIN location. If needed, it is the buyer's sole responsibility to verify secondary VIN locations their specific state may inspect, prior to purchase.

MILEAGES: Occasionally our vehicles may be driven or simply moved around our facilities. Slight differences may occur so we recommend you confirm actual and current miles prior to purchase.

CONDITION: We cover the obvious and do our best to describe our vehicles in detail. Even so, please have a transparent conversation with us before purchasing. Do be aware that all pre-owned vehicles, regardless of age, mileage, or manufacturer are subject to cosmetic wear and mechanical failure. Finally, be advised that although our sales associates are here to assist you with your purchase, they are not trained or certified vehicle inspectors.

AS-IS: All vehicles are sold "AS IS" and with no warranties expressed or implied. If you choose to waive inspection, do plan to have a detailed and transparent conversation with us regarding the vehicle's condition. Ask the hard questions up front. Please just call us, we are here to help and welcome all your questions!

Information is provided to the best of our knowledge and we make no warranty or representation regarding the accuracy, truth, or reliability of such information. We cannot be responsible for any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies contained in information provided by the consignor/seller of the vehicle.
