Here we have for sale my 1933 Singer Nine. One of only a handful left in the world.

I am an active member of the Singer Owner's Club and will be visiting the NEC Classic Car show on Friday 15th November – Do give me a ring on 07860 370558 (Tony).  if you wish to know more about this delightful car or catch me in Birmingham on the day. (The car however. will not be on show there).

The Singer Nine 9 model  was introduced at the 1932 October Motor Show ready for the 1933 year (This car was registered in February 1933) . The chassis. body and tub car specification is perhaps closer to the “old”1932 Singer Junior as it has rod brakes unlike the 33/34 model year as production was obviously not quite geared up for the new model!.

Electrics are 6 volt on this model

This vehicle has it's original and TRANSFERABLE registration number with it. The car is taxed. insured and on the road currently. It is not SORN and is in use!

The bad points:- There is an advisory on king pins but not a fail! The O/S king pin is loose and they both require doing sometime. but not urgently! Parts are available without difficulty and it's an easy job.

There is a patch of rust  2” x 1” in the bulkhead tin at the bottom by the bonnet closure point on each side. The Ash frame behind is intact and not rotted. thus this is again. a very simple repair

The red ignition warning light does not illuminate – (never has worked in recent years) – It's a ballast resistance winding issue behind the dash and not the bulb. There is an ammeter. so it's never been an issue.

The sliding roof is fine. but the corresponding fabric roof has been repaired in once corner – All genuine and no leaks. Been like it for 40 years!

The good points:-

This car is genuinely on the road and a lot of fun!

The tub is actually aluminium – only the bulkhead & bonnet is steel

All the leatherwork is generally good.

The vehicle is totally unrestored and unmolested and is in fantastic condition. Hence the dilemma – it does not really warrant a restoration!.

972cc  OHC Engine and back axle have been rebuilt and the car runs wonderfully. (Having said that I would recommend collection by trailer)

The 4 speed non-synchro box is smooth and changes fuss-free if a little slowly by modern standards!

Radiator is re-cored and its beautiful cowl re-chromed

Headlamps are Brass under black paint

Two new front tyres

All electrics – lights. trafficators etc work.

I have started a partial restoration. New drop window glass has been replaced in o/s back door. New window glass has been obtained for the back side windows. but not installed yet. All carding and woodwork needing to be removed to do this job has been completed and the whole is now ready to go back together.

I have decided not to continue with the restoration and therefore offer the car as is.  so that potential buyers can see the amazing original state this car is in – everything is near perfect considering its all 80 years old this really is amazing. I can replace glass and present the car as complete if wished. though I would expect the new owner would want to complete this work themselves!

My reasons for non-continuance are health. Five major operations during 2013 . is enough of a warning!

I have a price in mind for the car only should you wish. The offer price above is for the car and number plate together.

I would be interested in an older Land Rover in good order should you know of one. (series 2 or 3 perhaps)

Narative description should you decide to read on…………….

This little car is unusual in that it is not a restoration job or a barn find. It is. as it is and always has been. nbsp; an everyday runabout! It is not restored but has actually had general and continuous maintenance work completed as and when – and has spend most of the last 30 years under cover in a garage. Thus what you see is a totally original car in good running order (and until last year – used).   Now that is unusual !  The last MoT had a number of advisories. Steering play. king pins and an odd tyre…. nothing urgent and no fail.   This beautiful little car of course does need some work. It needs   2 x new rear fixed windows as they have yellowed and one rear sliding window (same reason). Apparently. the previous owner's children  used to swing on the grab handles throwing them wildly back and forth and eventually cracked the inside glass – result. nbsp; yellowing of the plastic. The leather is showing its age and the drivers door shut  surround is in tatters.   The engine and ancillaries are rebuilt. as is the radiator (re-chromed and re-cored) and back axle changed. There is a new battery. Trafficators work as do the lights.   Doors open & shut and there is no body damage other than a few small knocks in the wing edges and the paint isn't bad!

MY CAR IS GARAGED IN A SMALL VILLAGE OUTSIDE OF NEWPORT PAGNELL. HOME OF ASTON MARTIN  – A FEW MILES FROM THE M1 JUNCTION 14 AND IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION ANY DAY BY ARRANGEMENT.

History. log book. V5 etc. all available and in my name.

Thank you for looking.
