1950 Mercury. 4 dr. custom street rod. needs finished. lots of extra parts.

I am listing this car for a friend. who inherited it upon the passing of her Dad. Her Dad never finished the car. but it has a good start and would be a great project for someone who has the time and knowledge to finish it. She would take great pleasure in the fact that someone could finish her Dads dream car. and get some enjoyment out of it.

This car is just as he left it. and has been sitting for a few years. It has been covered while in storage. but is dusty and could use a good cleaning. Clear Nebraska title.

Runs and drives pretty good. has power and shifts great. There is a Ford engine. we think its a 351W. but not sure about that. we are not 'Ford people'. With the Cobra valve covers and air cleaner it would make sense that the engine would be a Cobra engine. but I cannot guarantee that. The transmission is a Ford Metric AOD. shifts smoothly. Optima battery. The car is sitting on a late '70s Ford frame too. or so I have been told. Disc brakes in the front. drum brakes in the rear.

I will describe the car to the best of my ability. but please email me some questions. and be sure what you are bidding on.

There is no interior besides two old Thunderbird bucket seats in the front. and the dash. VDO gauges that all appear to be working. and a small tach. Here is a chance for someone to make this car 'their own' by designing the interior from the ground up.

The roof has been chopped. suicide doors. full skirts. custom taillights. corvette grill. custom bumpers. and shaved doors with poppers. The dual exhaust sounds amazing. it has newer pipes. but older mufflers. Ford 9" rearend.

Complete PNP air bag suspension control system. front/back/left/right. with large polished SS air tank. remote and digital readout. Vintage Air conditioning. Gas filler tube in the trunk.

The floorboards are solid. with minor surface rust in places. but nothing major. The third brake light has been molded into the center of the back of the roof. Frenched in radio antenna. Lokar shifter with skull knob. but I also have the knob that came with the shifter. Back glass is in the car.

The wiring on the lights may need a bit of attention. the turn signals within the headlights come on when the brake pedal is pushed. And the turn signals don't work. Just trying to be completely honest about the condition of the car. Nothing major. but would need to be looked at.

GM '07-'09 paint color. Atomic Orange. Paint is nice. but not showroom by any means. It has minor flaws here and there. small scratches. stains and tiny bubbles. Also. there is a pretty significant dent in the rear door on the passenger side. and a dent about the size of the palm of my hand on the top of the fender on that same side. All that happened when the rescue squad was trying to get him out on the gurney through the garage. and a bookshelf tipped over on the car. I have talked to a body man in Lincoln. NE. and he gave a rough estimate of between $1500-$2500 to repair that damage.
