We have been commissioned to advertise for sale a unique opportunity to own this gorgeous replica Stanley 30 hp steam car.

This example is distinctive from our previous offerings in that it is not over 100 years old! In fact, the build of this example was concluded in around 2017 by J. R. Goold Steam Ltd the go-to name in the UK for your Stanley steam car needs! It was researched and built to an exceptional standard and was based on the Model 78 20 hp Stanley, an example of which survives in the USA, and which was used for measurements. A ‘Model 75' didn't exist prior to this example however it expertly combines the increased power and output of the 30 hp boiler and engine with the racing lines of the Model 78. Typically, 30 hp boilers and engines were reserved for the mountain wagons built by the Stanley firm to be sold for clients carrying passengers across steep and arduous terrain. The high-power output meant the heavy cars could be navigated successfully but not particularly quickly. One thing the Stanley twins were known for, however, was their ability to be creative. Notably, they were often to be found taking high-power engine and boiler combinations and fitting them into as light a car as possible for their racing and land speed record attempts! The car offered for sale harks back to that pioneering approach and creativity.

This example was professionally built over the course of a couple of years. The paint is two-pack and was professionally applied to a high standard. The Rushmore lamps are the genuine articles, and all the brass has been treated to retain the high shine as in the photographs without polishing. It is estimated to be able to drive in excess of 60 MPH (if desired!) and the gearing is 1:1 against the engine and the rear axle giving testament to the high power output and potential speed of this example. The finish could be considered elaborate and a real head-turner in any scenario! It clearly gives the impression of being well thought-out and finished to a high standard. The boiler has a good life ahead of it and the car generally has not seen a huge amount of use beyond proving it as a good car over the past few years.

We are delighted to be offering this example for sale and it is available for inspection at our premises near Exeter, Devon. Perfect for enjoying on the road and rally field, it is an impressive piece of steam and car engineering.
