LANDROVER SERIES 2 A 1965. HISTORIC VEHICLE, (TAX EXEMPT). Full MOT, expiry date 22/7/2022. Totally rebuilt from ground up. This is not a concours restoration, but extremely good rebuild. I have owned the Landrover since September 2009. Rebuilding it myself for the next 7 years. Finally get it on the road in the summer of 2016. I have done everything from the welding/ bodywork to all the mechanical and the electrical work. I finished the Landrover in the original colours, Marine Blue and Ivory.

Chassis/Bulkhead:-

Chassis had been totally sandblasted, main legs are original, outriggers and rear quarter chassis have been replaced. Front dumb irons have also been replaced. The Chassis was then painted with red oxide paint and

chassis black. The bulkhead was totally sandblasted, the foot wells and posts were replaced. The rest of the bulkhead was repaired and prepped for painting.

Suspension/steering:-

All new bushes in chassis were replaced. New leaf springs(not parabolic). New H/D Shock absorbers, bump stops and rebound straps. All new steering ball joints.

Axles:-

Both axles have been stripped down, checked and rebuilt. New rear wheel bearings and series 3 hubs

were fitted. One of the spheres on the front axle was replaced, then leather boots fitted.

Engine:-

Engine has been totally rebuilt, crank ground, new shells and pistons, all core plugs replaced. The

cylinder head had been resurfaced, new valve seats, valve tubes and valves to accept unleaded fuel. New distributor, but still using points and condenser. Weber carb conversion and I have kept the original oil bath air filter.

Transmission:-

All rebuilt, any worn parts were replaced, Only issue now is that when going from third to second, it sometimes jumps out of gear. going up is ok. It doesn't stop it from driving great.

Brakes:-

All new hydraulics through the car, all new lines and hoses, new masters cylinders, wheel cylinders,

brake shoes, springs and drums. I have added and remote servo under the R/H wing, hiding the hose through the bulkhead to the inlet manifold, trying to make it look original.

Electrics:-

Brand new wiring loom from auto looms with alternator conversion. All the additional wiring that was

added was using the correct original colour wires as they should have been.

All new lights.

The headlamps are H 4 conversions for better lighting. The outside is finished off with a nice pair of 5" chrome driving lamps in front of the grille and an old Lucas work lamps at the rear. I have fitted interior lamps.

I have kept all the switches original with switch taps. I have made a heater matrix that works great, although the heater switch is intermittent. Brand new glass and chrome bezels fitted to clocks. The tow ball wiring was all soldered to the rear lights and an audible buzzer was fitted to the indicators.

Body:-

Body panels all sandblasted etched primed and repaired where required. The front floor panels and the tub floor has been replaced with 3 mm aluminium. The door have been replaced brand new and I have fitted the inside of the doors with 2 mm aluminium. Then all the panels were sprayed in marine blue. The roof has been sprayed in ivory. Then the underside of the roof was then fitted with cord carpet to help with sound deading. I fitted defender sliding windows in the side panels for better ventilation.

Interior:-

I have tried to keep the interior as original as possible with a few small mods. The dash was finished in the body colour. 3 Front deluxe seats. The rear bench seats are second hand, with a grey cushion, bench seat are in good condition with a few marks. Tailored front rubber floor mats and an anti slip floor mat for the rear.

Wheels/tyres:-

Wheels have been all sandblasted, etched primed and sprayed in ivory to match the roof. I have just fitted 5 brand new 750 x 16 tyres with new inner tubes just before the MOT. The spare wheel is located on the rear of the Land rover by a swing away carrier.

Misc:-

Additional items being sold with the land rover as follows:- a fully rebuilt NATO hitch, a farm jack, a classic petrol can and a inspection lamp that hangs on the dash.

Just before I got it MOT'd, I changed all oils in the Land rover and give it a good check over. I think I have covered everything. These vehicles are becoming sort after. On the 6/8/2022 the Land rover will be 56 years old. I have carried out a huge amount of work on this Landrover as you can see, I insured it with an agreed valuation, so that's how I am pricing this up.

The price is advertised at £13,495, but I am open to sensible offers, Cash on collect.
