VW Karmann Ghia Original  Right Hand Drive South African Imported in 2019 so Solid Very Good

I had to get a right hand drive or my feet get stuck between the brake and the floor tunnel

as I wanted a original 1, I wanted to find 1 from South Africa It is with deep regret that I have to sell this I tried to kid myself into thinking it could work

but I just do not fit into it as I am 6" 4"

It is a great solid car you do not get original right hand drives normally in this type of condition

it is only because it is a new import 2019 from South Africa that it is so good

I have had enthusiasts and specialist garages commenting saying that it is a good solid car

Most of the original UK cars have rusted away or have needed to be completely restored new or welded

doors wings new floor pans and sills and heat channels that puts the cost of them cars into the £30k plus

this cars ones are still good

This car still has original sills heater channels and floor pans and a good bodywork

You do still get some right hand drives but many of them are not originals they are often Californian

imports that have been converted as that is a dry state as well as South Africa with good weather

It is not perfect but it is not at top perfect money but it still looks good as you can see in the photos

But very useable and fun to drive I am just to big for it gutted

The car comes with quite a lot of paper work as in the photos and

It was used for fashion camera shoots with models in South Africa as the photos show in 3 magazines

You can use it just as it is, it looks good and not to precious to use it and not worry to much

about it as if you had it with perfect paintwork and scared to park it anywhere

Or if you wanted you could take it to another level and get a bare metal respray for I think something

like £4000 to £80000 depending on the quality level paintwork you want to have done

Or you could go for the other option what I thought about possibly doing, air suspension and

going for the rat look so then you also would not have to worry to much about where you park it

as if you had done thousands on a paint job

It has got a 1 year only ever produced dashboard in 1966

It has got an EMPI VDM Coach Steering Wheel Classic that was an optional extra at the time of sale

the cheapest 1 I have seen for sale is 950 euros there is 1 on ebay now for £950 a nice little touch

that helps to set the car off inside a bit different

Sensible upgrades that have been done

Disc brakes and rear uprated drums and shoes

I had fitted a new alternator as the dynamo as it stopped working

But I still have dynamo and new brushes to fit it

Work that has been done since being imported here that I know of

New carpets

New door hinges so they open and close and line up as they should

New exhaust

Heat exchangers and pipework

Complete new clutch

New front brake pads

New uprated type 3 rear brake cylinders and shoes

More work that I have had done professionally that needed doing I got done by a specialist

Karmann Ghia garage with 30 years of experience to get it running spot on

Offside front sidelight not working, poor connection.

Offside front and rear indicators not working due to loose wire.

Offside wiper arm in wrong position, reposition.

Front disc brakes sticking on, supply and fit new correct master cylinder.

Engine service, new plugs, rotor cap, fuel filter, oil, check and set tappets, timing and C02 level.

Supply and fit rear engine tinware.

Heat exchanger levers missing supply and fit new ones.

Supply and fit new heater cable, old one snapped.

Accelerator cable conduit missing, supply and fit new one.

Supply and fit new door glass outer seals.

Remove inner door cards and fit check straps and fitting kits, refit door cards.

Supply and fit new hinge pillar seals.

Supply and fit new door seals.

Supply and fit new steering damper.

Clean around rear screen and re-seal rear screen.

Gearbox mount missing two bolts, fit new ones
