Beautiful 1972 MGB Works Rally Replica for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 45 votes
I'm sad to be parting with my much-loved 1972 MGB; an aesthetic homage to the works rally cars of the 1960s but with all the comforts of the road model, with lots of modern upgrades making it a reliable, comfortable and unique car amongst the MGB masses.

The car drives beautifully; starts first time, every time; never overheats thanks to the custom alloy radiator and more efficient plastic fan; sounds great with the TT Sport exhaust and manifold and never fails to turn heads. The bodywork is in good condition and very straight. And thanks to the period-correct and exceptionally rare Honeybourne Mouldings hardtop, it's even watertight for year round driving!

Since I've owned the car the following work has been done:

- Carbs balanced, valve clearances checked and ethanol-proof fuel lines installed ready for E10.

- TT Sports exhaust and manifold fitted.

- New rocker cover, head gasket and intake manifold restored with performance gaskets.

- New custom alloy radiator, new silicone pipes, new water pump, thermostat and thermostat housing.

- Wiring and electrical issues resolved, replaced column switches and LED lighting installed behind the dash so night driving is much improved.

- New Honeybourne Mouldings hardtop installed and professionally resprayed in Old English White (worth £500 alone if you can find one).

- Very rare colour-matched dash, all instruments refurbished and installed a modern Pioneer SBH10BT Bluetooth radio with integrated retractable phone mount.

- Period correct Lucas SFT576 Fog Lights installed though not yet wired in - a simple job I haven't yet gotten round to.

- Easily removable vinyl decals to the doors and bonnet, including bonnet strap and reg plate (original also available)

As stated, the bodywork is in good condition with no rust in the arches, sills or on the underside. Inspection welcome. The interior is tan leather with maroon pipework and beige carpets.

Mechanically the car is in excellent condition and has proved 100% reliable in standing London traffic on even the hottest days, and is equally happy travelling 5+ hours on holidays to Devon and the Peak District. The 4 speed gearbox is precise with a smooth overdrive, the brakes strong and the engine pulls evenly across the range with no flat spots. 1972 so MOT and Tax exempt.

Should the new owner wish to return the car to a classic MGB Roadster look I can supply the originally fitted nearly-new black mohair folding soft-top which can be swapped in for the hardtop with the easy removal of 4 bolts. Other spares removed from the car - including the original exhaust, radiator and chrome bumper outriders - can also be supplied if preferred. Images can be provided of spares on request.

I have genuinely loved owning this car as I'm sure you can tell from this description, and I will be sad to see it go. I hope the new owner enjoys her as much as I have - she's a real head turner and perfect for the uncertain weather of the British summer!

The car is listed elsewhere so I reserve the right to end this advert early. Inspection is welcomed but serious interest only please.
