Current customer rating:
1988 Gmc 7000 4 x 4 dump truck with 6418 original miles. 4 wheel drive done by Marmon-Herrington conversions when the truck was new in 1988. Marmon-Herrington is still in business and specialize in all types of heavy truck 4 x 4 conversions. I purchased this truck for a special purpose and am now done with it. I would love to keep it and put a Cat engine and tranny in it but I do not have the time. Truck has hydraulic brakes and spring/shock suspension. No CDL required to drive this truck (In Montana-check your own state!!)
The millage is correct. it was county owned and spent its life (mostly sitting) waiting for the time a 4 wheel drive dump truck was needed. The steering is tight. like a new truck. all of drive shafts (U-joints) are tight. like a new truck- even the little drive shaft from the PTO. The paint is flaking and missing in some spots but the primer is still intact. there is no visible rust on the body. just a few dings. The frame is excellent. no mag chloride erosion! The dump bed has some corrosion-my guess is they hauled something salty and didn't clean it out. bed is still very structurally sound and fully functional.
It has high/low 4 WD and high 2 WD on the transfer case and really heavy duty looking lock out front hubs. I believe the engine is a big block chevy 366. it has a 5 speed trany (no split rear/ no 2 speed rear). duel exhaust. tires are about 60% but old. The truck has a "divorced" transfer case which makes it ideal for motor/trany swap to a diesel (what i was planning on) because it floats on the frame instead of bolting to the back of the tranny-there is a drive shaft between the tranny and transfer case.
The transmission has some gear noise in 4 th and 5 th gear. don't honestly know what's going on there but there it is. Also the heater fan switch must have gone out at some point and someone did a strange job of replacing it (it does work). Truck is located in Kila MT 59920. Cash or bank check only please. contact with questions . Buyer is responsible for shipping/transport. PLEASE ask ANY questions before bidding. No returns. As Is.
