The Fury was a regular car and designed to be used daily back in 1962. but Tom Coddington a Chrysler Executive at that time asked Tom Hoover. a Chrysler engineer with vision (and of Hemi 426 notoriety) to help with a proposal to install bigger engines in smaller cars. The “Maximum Performance Wedge 413 Cu In Engine (or Max Wedge as most refer to it) was designated to be used in the Fury platform and the idea went ahead. Please note that these engines were not Cross Ram cars like the later engines produced by Chrysler. these were 413 Cu In “Super Stock” motors meant for racing - but featured a pair of inline 4 Barrels. The “Cross Ram” cars were hard to tune. but the inline 4's on the Super Stock motor meant the car would react well to street driving. A mere 50 units were produced for the dealer network. these units were given to them to see what could be produced and give feedback to Chrysler. The cars were all stock bodied but pulled from the production line to have the engines installed elsewhere. just 50 of these cars were chosen. Reports back in the day suggest power figures nearing 400hp for these very special vehicles. The car also retains its 727 Torque-flight 3 speed push butting transmission. Another point worth mentioning about this rare car are the Headers. please look carefully at the under-hood shots. these headers are factory race items. they are “Tuned Steel” and are documented by the Chrysler Registry. This car isn't just one of the 50. but has to be the best surviving one of the bunch having covered a mere 27. 00 miles from new. Not only does it carry the kudos of being a super rare Mopar but this car is more than a survivor – This marque is “The Survivor”. This car carries the “Zenith Award” judged in 2008 at Bloomington Gold which indicates a 90% of its factory new originality. This cars degree of preservation which is extraordinary and unlikely among most unrestored original vehicles over 40 years old. The paperwork reads… “This represents the high point in automotive preservation”. In short. this car is just how it left the factory. albeit from a “Special Line”. The 50 chosen cars were also painted 2 tone to show them being different from the norm with this example being finished in Luminous Brown/Cordovan also known as “Redwood Rose”. a super rare combination from Chrysler. This example has been kept in a climate controlled environment for much of its life to keep its originality. All floors. panels. paint and mechanicals with the exception of the headlamp lenses. exhaust and electronic ignition are all as per factory 1962. Chrysler's build cards for each car produced in 1962 gave a designation for the engine which was fitted to it. these 50 specials read “N/A” as they were one off's. Factory records prior to 1965 are sketchy at best but the Chrysler Historical Society was able to trace the card for this example and confirms the N/A entry for its engine designation. Below is a breakdown of the car. 8. 75” 3. 9:1 Sure Grip 11” Brakes On All 4 Wheels Factory Radio Delete Original Two-Tone Redwood Rose Paint Multi Leaf Rear Suspension This car was family owned from new in 1962 through 1987 and then changed ownership just twice until now. included in the paperwork are copies of all titles from day one. In short. you are looking at Chryslers time capsule street racer from 1962. an unbelievable factory based prototype in every sense and in unmolested. unrestored condition with the most amazing paperwork. If you want to own or add another Mopar to your collection – this would probably be the star car in your stable! Please look at the images. and just sit back in awe at the preservation of this vehicle. The paint. interior and all other aspects of this vehicle look simply stunning as a survivor. this car is an investment grade item. The images also include a copy of the Factory Data Card from the Chrysler Historical Society. The car will be supplied with all corresponding paperwork that has been collected over the years and all Zenith award paperwork. We can ship this car globally. we can help with transportation wherever you are. please ask any questions you feel relevant. we will help in any way possible. At Collins Bros we do not “Advertise” vehicles. we SELL THEM – be quick. this car is priced at wholesales monies and will not be around for long. do not hesitate it will not be here for long.
