Morris Minor Linesmans Van for sale
Current customer rating:
I am reluctantly selling my Morris Minor Engineers / Linesmans van which I have owned for about one year. This vehicle has a 4 cylinder 918 cc engine and has Morris Eight components built on a Minor chassis and is the first vehicle from a batch of 10 External Utilities based at Cranbrook Kent. The sloping green tinted observation glass allowed the linesman to look upwards for line faults in all weather conditions. without the glare of the sun. The van began service in 1937 and was withdrawn in 1947 following 10 years service.
The van has been previously restored to a very high standard by a former owner and has since been dry stored and preserved. with the occasional outing when transported to shows. The chassis is original and is in excellent condition. There is a complete history with the vehicle including original registration book and all MOT certificates from 1964 to 1998. There is also a ladder gantry and 3 section wooden ladder that could be secured to the roof. Additionally with the sale. there are many spare parts including passenger seat. spare wheel. gear box. manifold. carburettor. observation glass and a range of engine gaskets plus more. Some recent work to the vehicle include an overhaul of the carburettor and petrol pump. as well as cleaning out the fuel lines to the petrol tank. The 6 volt battery was replaced in March 2012. and all the electrical components and lights are in good working order.
The engine turns over nicely and was last run about 2 months ago. The brakes do require an overhaul as the vehicle has not been driven in several years. therefore the buyer would need to transport the van on a trailer. For any further information please contact me on 8. Thank you.
