1962 BMW Isetta (Red) - A True Head Turning Classic

1962 BMW Isetta for sale - I'm selling "Izzy" as it is no longer practical for me to keep her. she is a wonderful. iconic and rare little car that is sure to turn heads wherever you go. I am sad to see her go but other priorities mean I cannot keep her.

Since buying Izzy approx. 5 years ago. I have added new wing mirrors. battery and rear windscreen heater. she has also been kept in excellent. dry conditions.

          She is a left hand drive beauty with 3 wheels. 1 door. 1 bench seat with space for 2 occupants. a 295cc engine. sunroof. hamper rack & a top speed of 50mph!

Izzy is also road tax exempt as she is classed an "historic vehicle"

Regarding condition - firstly she has a fibre glass shell - this is not a kit car you understand. but has been fitted with the fibre glass shell which makes her extremely rare (from being part of the Isetta Owners Club. I do believe she is the only fibre glass Isetta in the UK. although my membership lapsed a couple of years ago so this may not be the case now). not only does this make her rare but also means that she has no rust!

I understand from the last time a mechanic looked her over that there is some work needed regarding the shaft that controls the gears. this needs to be refitted to make sure the gears slot into place correctly. however this was referred to as "tinkering" rather than major repair/renovation works. I also haven't turned the engine over for some time. so it's safe to say that she requires some TLC to get her in perfect running order again.

She has passed previous MOT's and once she has received some love and attention. is an absolute joy to drive.

So if you are looking for a classic car that isn't a huge restoration project but allows you to do some minor work to bring back to life. than Izzy would be perfect for you!

The condition has been reflected in the buy it now price - 100% on the road/running Isetta's (that may not be as rust-free as Izzy) go for up to 20k. I would like less than half of this.

In addition to the above description written a few days ago. today (12/10/13) we had the engine turning over and running well. we also bled the brakes. Also I would like to add (as I was reminded today) that the bushes in the king pins were replaced along with the wheel bearings before the last MOT. also refurbished brake pistons and brake shoes.
