ferrari 308GTS recreation

this car is the only one known in excistence world wide!!!!

in the 70s. iat. wning Ferrari. uilt the fiat x19 and the Ferrari 308 at the same time so naturally they shared some parts. n the late 1980s. n engineering shop in Bristol struck upon the idea of planting a genuine Ferrari 308 body. nto an adapted fiat x19 floorpan and chassis. o they purchased a selection of new and used genuine 308 panels. nd the end result is the car you see here!. so this is not a replica that kinda looks similar or something like the real thing. ndeed. ost of the body panels will bolt direct onto a genuine Ferrari 308. s that's where they came from. once the car was built and road worthy it did the tour of car shows and was featured in more than one magazine of the time. it changed hands a couple of times. nd was found in a very sorry state by myself about 3 years ago.

the body was removed and a complete new floorpan and chassis. long with additional strengthening. as made completely from high grade galvanised steel. o it will probrably now outlive me!. the car was then reassembled using either new or recon parts. verything being upgraded and detailed in the process as listed below

SUSPENSION. ORANGE KONIS. eight and damp adjustable with spax yellow upgraded  lowering springs. complete blue  poly bushed all round. ll bolts and washers replaced with new stainless ones. that's EVERY last nut n bolt!

BRAKES. new master cylinder. ew hoses and pipes. econ calipers painted and Ferrari logo. . ew drilled/vented discs all round. ew pads all round. ew handbrake cables

WHEELS. refirbed genuine compo 15" split rims with new tyres all round

ENGINE. rebuilt and heavily modded/detailed. no turbo lump with 4 speed fiat gearbox(it goes well!). everything on ignition side is brand new. e. oilpack. uel multi relay. ll senders. ll wiring. verything engine electrics wise has been replaced with new regardless of whether it needed it or not!. ngine has had new crank bearings and oil pump(4 plus bar cold. bar hot). ead recently off and new gasket/de-cokenew garratt hybrid turbo and new large intercooler. new clutch fitted last week!. far far to much to list. ut basically. f it could be done then it was. egardless of costs

BODYWORK. car was completely stripped back to the original gel coat. hen partially re-jelled. hen £800 worth in materials alone was put into the paint and primer. ar is Peugeot semi pearl yellow(cos theyre ALWAYS red!). the rear engine cover is always a weak spot on the early fibreglass models. he fibreglass weakens around the top hinges. his was also the case on this car. wanted this car to be a bit different. o ive fitted powered hydraulics to the engine cover. here is a key lock on the passenger side grill as theres supposed to be. ut rather than it unlocking or locking the side grill. t actually switches the hydraulics. ither opening or shutting the engine cover with hydraulics. he drivers side lock on grill does the same. lthough this one powers the windows up or down rather than the engine cover. all body panels are genuine Ferrari apart from the roof. his is because I changed the roof slightly to allow the hydraulic powered engine cover with its side spoilers to slot into place when closed. ut it looks correct and works A1. ndeed. he cars originality has NEVER been put into question. ven by fellow Ferrari owners!!

INTERIOR. I wanted to steer clear of Italian electrics as much as possible as theyre crap. o I fitted an adapted mazda mx5 dash and centre console etc. long with all gauges that are working and reading correctly. lthough there is a bit of interior electrics that still need sorting. ut nothing major. ash is also fronted with brushed stainless steel(ACTUAL steel). seats are fiat items with Ferrari logos. roof is custom made and totally removable. toring away nicely under the front. o leaks at all!!!

 FAULTS. rear side grills are copies made from resin coated hard wood and the paint has started to flake off a bit. alf a day cleaning them up would sort

speedo isnt working since the clutch was done. able is in 3 parts. o no doubt one of the links isnt slotted quite right. asy fix

oil TEMP gauge isnt connected. eeds wire running from sender to gauge

interior needs a bit of better finishing off to make car perfect. ut still looks the part and is usable fine

I can rattle on about this car forever. ut the best thing is to come have a look for yourself. heres no way I could even begin to list the work or money gone into this car. he spec is way beyond what ive described here. ut. ts perfectly usable. tarts/drives fine. oes like stink and looks the tits. ut I treat it as a kind of ongoing project as with cars like this. heres ALWAYS something needing doing or something that could be improved. o. uch as the car can be jumped in and driven away. have totally lost interest in it. o. uch as i was meticulous with 95% of the car. y the time it came to doing the interior it was more of a concern to get the car on the road than for the interior to be perfect. lthough. aying that it does look ok. ust needs finishing off a bit is all. I would say though. ts a VERY hard ride so if you suffer with loose teeth or bad piles. his aint for you!

this car owes me personally somewhere in the region of 12k. nd that's without labour!!!. but. was single when I started it. ow I am not. nd me n my mrs n 2 kids just wont fit. lus ive lost my under cover parking. o its got to go 

OK. ve had lots of offers on this car. couple of which i have accepted but have then been messed about. y new vehicle has arrived which im having to park on the road as i have no parking space left on drive. o this car now has to go!!. m lowering the reserve to 4k which is exactly half of the 8k ive twice been offered. ighest bidder buys. nd please. uch as keeping peoples deposits goes some way  to softening the annoyance of having my time wasted. lease please do not even consider this car unless you have funds to pay for it!

dont forget. ou are bidding on a car that is virtually indistinguishable on the outside from the real thing!!!. hilst underneath it still should have similar performance. ounds awesome and is virtually new!. ot some common or garden fiero yank rubbish that kinda looks similar!

ok. so ive had one guy inbox me. ome look and drive the car. oved it. id 8k. eft a deposit. hen ring back a couple of days later saying his mrs went mad so he can no longer buy. then another guy trying to do a deal outside of ebay. gain bid 8k saying"ive got 8k in cash here now. f you accept then il come get right now". hich i did. e was never seen or heard of again!. so then. s i need the car gone. lowered the reserve to 4k to make sure it sold. lso vetting and deleating bids to insure i wasnt messed about. hen a few seconds before auction end an idiot from italy starts bidding and wins. hereafter a couple of days of messing me about he states hes sorry and that he bought by mistake!!. SO PLEASE. O MORE MESSERS. he cars here to be sold. t can be jumped in and driven away and with a minimal amount of effort youll have a mint 308 gts. t a fraction of the cost that it was to me!
