1978 Pontiac Trans Am. 6. 6 litre V8. 400 CI Pontiac engine. 4 speed manual transmission.

Rare survivor car. totally solid and rust free. Imported from Arizona 2003 and owned by me since. (10 years)

Ram Air III Cylinder heads (No 48 Heads) i was told by the previous U. S owner (who owned the car 14 years) that the engine is from a 69 Firebird. This is not your typical 180-220bhp Smog motor Trans Am. this is a desirable engine that with correct carburation and basic tuning will make 345bhp.

Runs superbly. does not use oil or water. excellent clutch and gearbox. Rear differential (limited slip) was rebuilt in the U. S prior to my purchase. Performs very well. and feels great on the road. I would have no hesitation in using it on a long journey.

Superb rust free body. all of the usual wet state/long term U. K resident Trans Am rust prone areas are amazingly sold. Rear arches & rear quarter panels for instance are excellent. and its totally solid underneath. When i first bought the car. i thoroughly waxoyled the car on a ramp.

Older paint & interior. will require paint & interior to make A1. but this is a survivor car with 'pretty good' paint and an 'average' interior. so not a show winner. rather a totally solid turn key Trans Am with no issues that drives great. feels great that has proved 100% reliable in the 10 years that i have owned it. I have covered 8. 00 miles in the the car. It will certianly not embarrass you on a showfield. but dont expect a concours winner for half the price of one!

Always garaged. never been wet in 10 years! And i doubt it saw many rain drops in Arizona. Serviced annually regardless of mileage and use. Strictly road use. never been down the drag strip and only attended a few shows in the time i have owned the car. so will be a fresh face on the show scene if this is your thing. The car has had an easy life certainly in my term of ownership. and is totally unabused.

M. O. T runs to July 2014. road tax end of December 2013. In July. a service with oils. filter. coolant/anti freeze. plus. distributor cap and rotor arm was carried out. Tyres are all excellent and are all matching.

Elec windows and trunk release. new windshield fitted 2008. tilt steering wheel. 15x8 Snowflakes. Monroe air shocks on the rear. rear anti roll bar.

Fisher T Tops. in excellent condition. (not been on in 10 years!)

Rochester Quadar jet carb. (re-calibrated) roller rockers. K&N Air filter. Hooker headers into dual exhausts. New engine mounts. Car comes with a new shaker hood seal and new interior door panels (cost £500). New engine mounts fitted in 2008. New plus leads fitted last year. and transmission oil & diff oil were changed last year too. New wheel centres just fitted.

Temperature gauge. and wipers have recently stopped working. The wipers probably through lack of use. the temp gauge i suspect a sender or wiring fault as it has been working randomly for the last 12 months or so but has now taken an opportune time to throw in the towel!

Its going to be extremely difficult to say goodbye to this car. i have fulfilled a life long ambition in owning this great car. and it has rewarded me with hassle free and enjoyable ownership. and has proved classic car ownership doesnt have to be a headache. nor expensive so long as you dont ask for trouble. Sadly. i just dont get time to use the car. and it seems a shame to see it sit in the garage for weeks on end awaiting some time in the daylight. hence i have made the difficult decision to part with it. This will be good investment material. as 77/78 Trans Ams seem to be on the up and up. with up to £20k needed for a really perfect example. you can buy this one for a heck of a lot less than that which should leave you room for paint and interior work if you feel it necessary and still have room for some potential investment.

Any questions. please drop me an email. No Paypal please.
