1968 Mercedes Benz 280 SL Vehicle Overview This 1968 Mercedes Benz 280 SL is in Red with Black.
A documented TWO owner California car.
Sold new in May 1968 at European Motors in San Francisco. CA.
The second and current owner purchased the car in December 1986 from Smythe European in San Jose. CA. The car has not been offered for sale until now.
This car still retains its original Black License plates.
A very nice driving car. Sound suspension. Smooth transmission and a strong motor.
Factory air by Kuhlmeister. Leather seats in very good condition. New moldings and weather stripping. New carpet.
All electrical is in good working order. Interior lights work as well as the glove box light.
Painted early last year in its original color. Chassis undercoated.
The car is rust free. No rust in the trunk.
Hard top and soft top included. Hard top is in nice condition with the original headliner and wood trim on the rear window. Soft top is serviceable. but has been on the car since 1986.
Recent work includes:
- Rebuilt motor with 7. 76 miles. This included a new block.
- New Alternator and restored odometer set to zero at the time of the engine rebuild.
- New fuel injection system. firewall insulation and heater core.
- New steering gear assembly.
- New A/C compressor.
Matching Michelin XSE 195/60-14 s.
Original service booklet (stamped back to new). tools. spare. jack. spare keys. file of service records and original manuals will all be presented to the new owner.
